Location: Remote - USA
The Role:
The Billing Advocate is responsible for the timely processing and follow-up on medical claims submitted to insurance companies and other entities for payment.
As a Billing Advocate, you will:
- Submit on a timely basis to insurance companies' medical claims for processing.
- Follow up with all payers to validate submission of hospital or physician status forms within the adjudication process.
- Follow up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle time frames.
- Call insurance companies regarding payments and denials to check on status and obtain EOBs.
- Identify and bill secondary or tertiary insurances.
- Answer all patient or insurance company telephone inquiries pertaining to assigned accounts.
- Balance new work and follow up accounts within workload.
- Work with the VA and Veterans Designated TPA's regarding unpaid balances and denial.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED
- EPIC experience preferred. Allscripts, Meditech Expanse or SMS/Envision experience a plus
- 1 year of physician medical billing experience
- Proficient using Microsoft office products such as Word, Excel, Outlook
- Technical proficiency to work on multiple computer screens and software applications simultaneously
- Consistent ability to work with a high volume of accounts
- Focused and self-motivated
- Excellent investigative and problem-solving abilities
- Close attention to detail and accuracy
- Exceptional organization, time management, prioritization skills
- Ability to communicate effectively over the telephone and in writing

- A quiet, distraction-free environment to work from in your home.

- The workspace area accommodates all workstation equipment and related materials and provides adequate surface area to be productive.
