As the Service Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading a highly skilled team of technicians to deliver prompt and comprehensive maintenance, repairs, and inspections for vehicles. This key position involves proficiently managing work schedules, orchestrating meticulous planning and organization, and optimizing workshop resources to achieve our company's operational goals seamlessly. Additionally, the Service Manager will engage directly with customers, adeptly addressing their repair requirements and recommending essential maintenance services.
Betts is a family-owned company in business for over 150 years. We specialize in parts and service work for suspensions, brakes, wheel ends, and more on a variety of vehicles. We currently operate 8 locations on the West Coast, our truck repair services include laser alignments, steering and drivetrain repairs, Bendix retrofit anti-collision safety system installation, DOT and BIT inspections, leaf spring repair and replacement, truck suspension repair, truck axle and trailer axle repair, brake repair service, hydraulic hoses, custom u-bolts, and more!

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrates commitment to The Betts Way framework and serves as a role model for others.
- Actively collaborates with various departments and business units to ensure the achievement of company Top Level Metrics (TLM).
- Utilizes road tests, mechanical testing devices, customer feedback, and visual inspections to assess the need for vehicle repairs.
- Effectively communicates repair procedures and rationale to customers, building trust in the service provided.
- Identifies required parts and generates detailed estimates outlining costs for parts and labor.
- Provides guidance to shop employees on repair processes and overall shop operations, emphasizing cleanliness, safety, training, and personnel management.
- Makes shop purchases by established guidelines.
- Maintains responsibility for Quality Control of all service work completed.
- Oversees the comprehensive maintenance of company vehicles.
- Engages in fleet calls alongside the outside sales team.
- Supports the Parts Department as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Directly supervises employees in the Service Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities by the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, employee training, shop scheduling, assigning work, evaluating performance, and rewarding/disciplining employees.
- Addressing complaints and resolving problems associated with the Service Team.
Requirements
- 3 - 5 years of experience in a service-related industry, with at least a few years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Experience in customer service, operations, and team management is valuable.
- Strong leadership abilities to effectively manage and motivate teams. This includes the ability to delegate tasks, provide constructive feedback, and resolve conflicts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for interacting with employees, customers, and other stakeholders. Must be able to convey information clearly and effectively.
- A customer-centric approach with an emphasis on customer satisfaction, addressing customer concerns promptly, and striving to exceed expectations.
- Adept at identifying issues, analyzing root causes, and implementing effective solutions. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential in this role.
- Strong organizational skills are necessary to manage schedules, prioritize tasks, and ensure efficient service delivery.
- The ability to build and maintain a strong, cohesive team, foster a positive work environment, encourage collaboration, and provide opportunities for professional development.
- A valid driver's license is required.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Bilingual in Spanish.
