Position Summary: Benefits Specialist II

We are seeking a highly motivated and driven individual to join our team in the role of Benefits Specialist II. **We are seeking a candidate in the Pacific Time Zone to work with our West Coast clients

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the processing of all new hires, life events, terminations and open enrollments via multiple carrier/HRIS platforms; ensure requests adhere to all regulatory, carrier and client guidelines
  • Administer and maintain the client’s HRIS/benefits database in accordance with all onboarding, offboarding and change requests submitted by the client
  • Complete the plan build, testing and successful launch of open enrollment and ongoing maintenance of eligibility within a client’s HRIS/online enrollment platform.
  • Perform monthly invoice reconciliation to ensure benefit elections align with carrier invoice, HRIS and payroll deductions
  • Respond to any employee benefit/claim inquiries in a timely manner
  • Prepare open enrollment materials (benefit guides, PowerPoint presentations) as requested; work proactively with vendors to guide clients through open enrollment events.
  • Ability to implement a range of administrative tasks and processes to streamline efficiency that is tailored to the client’s benefit programs (i.e., real-time reporting, payroll/HCM integration, etc.)
  • Understand and execute the process for building, testing and deploying EDI file feeds between the client’s insurance carriers and HRIS system, to include: plan rule setup, extracting employee data, troubleshooting eligibility during the testing phase and regular upkeep of files once the feeds are active (troubleshooting discrepancies)

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

  • 7-10 years’ of extensive benefits experience including the administration of various benefit programs such as Group Health, Flexible Spending Accounts, Dental, Vision, Accident and Disability, Life Insurance and Wellness benefits
  • Prior experience working in a multi-client environment with medium to large sized organizations (>250 EEs) is required (i.e. Broker, TPA, HCM Vendor)
  • Must be well-versed in ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA regulations (to include monthly ACA Tracking, error/warning corrections, and year-end review for ACA filings)
  • Experience with the implementation of benefit administration systems to include building plans and loading rates in at least 2 HCM systems
  • Experience in the set-up, testing, production, and ongoing maintenance of EDI file feeds is required
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills are required
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proactive approach to conflict resolution
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
  • Active state Life/Health license strongly preferred
