Job Description:
Preference will be given to candidates who are bilingual in English and one of the following languages; Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese (written), and Cantonese or Mandarin (spoken), Russian, Vietnamese, Amharic, Arabic, Farsi (Persian), Korean, Laotian, Somali, or Spanish.

What You Will be Doing:
In this position you will analyze and evaluate eligibility claims for Paid Leave benefits. Benefits Eligibility Specialists (Employment Adjudicators) investigate claim issues by interviewing persons associated with the claim. It is a technical position requiring extensive knowledge of complex statutes, administrative rules, and policy guidelines relative to the Paid Leave program. The position requires skills in identifying issues; gathering, evaluating, interpreting, and presenting facts related to how the laws, rules, and policies that govern the program are applied. This position involves creating and maintaining written documentation of activities concerning clients or customers.

What We Are Looking For (Desired Attributes):
  • Experience providing internal and external customer service serving diverse populations.
  • Experience in making decisions concerning eligibility, issuing decisions, and resolving problems using independent judgment.
  • Extensive knowledge of statutes, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines for Paid Leave Oregon.
  • Experience prioritizing and managing work time and efforts to accomplish both ongoing and emergent duties.
  • Experience in documentation required to support eligibility decisions.
  • Experience at a high level of skill in communicating both in writing and verbally.
  • Commitment to advancing equitable outcomes with valuing diversity and promoting inclusion
  • Intermediate experience with MS office, including Excel, Word, Outlook and databases
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient analytical skills; ability to collect, analyze,
  • Experience providing excellent customer service for both internal and external customers in a high call volume center; ability to interpret and explain program requirements
  • Attention to detail with time management skills for processing large amounts of paperwork

Required Minimum Qualifications:
One year of experience processing unemployment insurance claims; OR
Two years of experience which included at least two of the following: 1) identifying contested claims issues, 2) gathering, evaluating and interpreting facts; 3) preparing written statements which may be used for a formal hearing; and/or 4) a working knowledge of federal and state unemployment insurance laws; OR
An equivalent combination of experience

Hybrid Remote Work Information:
