Job Overview:
On a daily basis, our friendly Bellman/Doorman are expected to greet customers with a sincere welcome by using a positive speaking voice, retrieve/store luggage, trunks and packages to and from rooms, loading areas and vehicles by hand or using baggage carts, escort customers to their rooms, inform guests about room amenities, hotel services and local attractions, listen and respond to guest requests with appropriate action. This position reports to the Security Manager, Assistant Director of Security and Director of Security.
Daily Responsibilities:
- Greet all owners and guests upon arrival and departure. Escort owners and guests to their rooms. Remain at post when not assisting guests (i.e. in front of building or in lobby).
- Transfer luggage, trunks, and packages to and from rooms, loading areas, and vehicles by hand or using baggage carts.
- Store and retrieve luggage and other items for guests. Receive and mark baggage by completing and attaching claim checks.
- Supply guests with directions, travel information, and other information such as available services, points of interest, and suite and property amenities. While in guest rooms point out heating/AC controls, telephone and internet access information, safety and security features, and in-room safes. Offer to fill the ice bucket.
- Assist guests in hailing of yellow taxi cabs.
- Responsible for orderly and even flow of traffic at lobby entrance and street.
- Make deliveries to and from guest rooms as instructed.
- Ensure lobby, bell closet, and work areas as well as departmental equipment are clean and presentable at all times. Perform preventative maintenance and daily care of luggage carts, and other equipment.
Qualifications:
- 1+ years of hotel experience in a large hotel preferred
- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills, must be a team player
- Excellent oral, verbal, and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and be detail-oriented
- Professional appearance and excellent attendance and punctuality
Physical Requirements:
- Must be flexible and able to work AM/PM shifts including weekends and holidays.
- Ability to work in a standing position for extended periods of time (8 hours or more).
- Frequent bending and stretching is required. Ability to lift, carry, or push up to 50lbs or more.
- Must be able to work outside in various weather conditions.
