Job Summary:
Seeking a dedicated Behavioral Support Specialist to join our team at GuidingSteps Inc. This role involves assessing and addressing challenging behaviors in individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, utilizing evidence-based practices to promote positive behavior changes. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting functional behavioral assessments, developing and implementing behavior support plans, and providing ongoing support and training to caregivers and other staff.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive functional behavioral assessments.
- Develop personalized behavior support plans based on assessment findings.
- Implement intervention strategies and monitor their effectiveness.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure cohesive support strategies.
- Train and support caregivers and staff in behavior management techniques.
- Adjust strategies based on progress and feedback.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Social Work, or related field.
- Experience in behavioral assessment and intervention with individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of the ABC model and other behavior analysis frameworks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Certification as a Behavior Analyst (preferred).
Responsibilities:
- Conduct patient assessments to determine behavioral needs and develop treatment plans
- Implement behavioral therapy techniques to address challenging behaviors and promote positive outcomes
- Collect and analyze data on patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
- Provide support and education to patients and their families regarding behavioral interventions
Skills:
- Strong knowledge of working with individuals with developmental disabilities, particularly autism
- Proficient in patient assessment and diagnostic evaluation
- Experience in implementing behavioral therapy techniques
- Ability to collect and analyze data for treatment planning purposes
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
