Under the direction of the Director of Intellectual and Developmental (IDD) Provider Services, the Behavior Support Specialist performs Behavior Support services to assigned individuals ensuring compliance with ICF/IID, and Home and Community Based Services (HCS) waiver principles.
Specialized interventions are provided to assist individuals in increasing adaptive behaviors and modifying maladaptive behaviors that prevent individuals inclusion in the community.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Completing Inventories for Client and Agency Planning (ICAPs); preparing results of assessments, including recommendations; participating in staffings; designing, implementing and monitoring behavior guidelines and Behavior Support plans; consulting and training with individuals served, staff, and family members.
Work involves participation in the establishment of program goals and procedures, and development of budget requests. This position maintains an active, cooperative relationship with a wide range of staff and other community agencies, Physical demands are light to moderate. Position is based in Wichita Falls. HFC incorporates principles of trauma-informed care, which includes cultural sensitivity, in all areas of service delivery. Work location and hours could change based on program needs. Travel is required with some overnight. Possibly subject to federal vaccination mandate, including provisions for claiming exemptions
QualificationsEducation, Training, and Experience
Meets one of the following:
Licensed as Psychologist (Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 501)
Licensed as Psychological Associate (Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 501)
Certified by HHSC as a Certified Authorized Provider
Licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (Texas Occupations Code, Chapter 503)
Certified Behavior Analyst by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
Must have current drivers license and be insurable under Center insurance. Must pass all Center mandated trainings.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Psychology ability to conduct psychological testing and to interpret diagnostic interviews and test data orally and in writing.
- Behavior Plans knowledge of analyzing behavioral deficits and to develop Behavior Intervention Plans for implementing and monitoring behavior.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
- Display a customer service orientation; at all times treating customers as equals and partners.
- Extensive knowledge of agency rules, regulations, policies and procedures, Medicaid waiver programs and the ability to interpret them.
- Ability to relate verbal instructions, communicate in a courteous and effective fashion with co-workers, consumers and families, agencies and the public.
- Skilled in the use of personal and network computers, word processing, database, spreadsheet and office management software (Microsoft Office). Familiarity with CARE a plus.
