What is a Home Health Care Behavioral Health Nurse?
A Home Health Behavioral Health Nurse (RN) travels to a patient’s home to administer services and help patients maintain their independence while they safely heal at home.
What does a Home Health Behavioral Health Nurse do?
Home Health Behavioral Health Nurses provide a variety of tasks during patient visits depending on the specific plan of care and type of patient. Some tasks include:
- Provide skilled nursing care as outlined in the patient plan of care with a focus on the mental/behavioral health of each patient
- Assist in the development and implementation of the interdisciplinary patient care plan as it pertains to nursing
- Provide clinical care team updates on the patient’s current physical and emotional status and any change in the patient’s condition
What are the qualifications for a Home Health Nurse?
- RN license in good standing in the state of Florida
- Minimum one year of experience in behavioral/mental health or psych with the geriatric population
- Medicare OASIS documentation proficiency required
Do Home Health Nurses work alone?
Home Health Nurses are autonomous, but they are not alone. Along with exceptionally supportive clinical supervisors, Home Health Nurses are a vital part of a collaborative team of clinicians.
