Job Title:Behavioral Health Technician
General Job Description
The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is responsible to assist with the treatment of patients who have various behavioral problems, such as substance abuse, post-traumatic stress disorder, mental instability and physical and emotional abuse. The BHT is expected to understand and implement individual treatment plans, record patient behavior, and provide a safe, supportive environment for the patients. Technicians may provide and record patient medications and assisting in daily activities, whether therapeutic or recreational.
Job Responsibilities
- Recognize the diversity of the patient population and treat all fairly, kindly, and professionally.
- Model appropriate social behavior and positive use of free time with recreational activity both in the home and the community.
- Maintain positive patient relationships and address client problems and concerns.
- Protect and maintain the confidentiality of the client records and information.
- Facilitate psychotherapy group sessions and activities with clients.
- Recognize, prevent, and respond to situations in which a client may be a danger to self or a danger to others, behaves in an aggressive or destructive manner, may be experiencing a crisis situation, or may be experiencing a medical emergency.
- Recognize and respond to fire, disaster, hazard, and medical emergency.
- Provide transportation to outside services for clients when indicated.
- Provides direct care service and supports to the clients in meeting their basic personal and home care needs. This may include assistance or prompting with personal hygiene and self-administration of medication, mealtime preparation, and chores.
- Ensures that the clients comply with house rules, treatment plans which include personalized goals, appropriate interpersonal relationships, and fire and safety protocols.
- Follows the program guidelines and protocols, implement a day-to-day structure which may include redirection, and verbal intervention where applicable.
- Submits significant and routine paperwork such as progress notes, incident reports, medication logs, maintenance requests, etc. as required by the program. Attention to detail is important for these clinical records.
- Prepares or supervises meal preparation according to the established menu and client abilities and performs household duties daily. Other specific duties are assigned by shift and posted at the location.
- Ensures that the facility is physically maintained to meet license requirements and is always clean and habitable.
- Ensure certifications and trainings remain current and valid.
- Perform other tasks that may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED
- One year experience in the Behavioral Health field or health related field
- Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background Check
- Valid Driver’s License
- CPR/First Aid
- Current TB Test
Location: Phoenix
Schedule: Saturday/Sundays 7am-7pm
Part time set weekends schedule: Saturdays/Sundays 7am-7pm
