Job Summary The Behavioral Health Psychiatric Supervisor 1 position is a direct and supervisory peer support role based in the Early Psychosis Programs at the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento. The overarching responsibilities of this position are to provide direct peer support to service users at the SacEDAPT clinic, serve as the Peer Support Supervisor to a team of providers in the same clinic, and train on best peer support practices to clinics statewide as part of the California Early Psychosis Training and Technical Assistance Center. Direct services may be provided in a variety of clinical and community settings to suppoer program participants in their recovery goals. The Behavioral Health Psychiatric Supervisor works as part of a multi-disciplinary team and attend weekly team and supervisory meetings to ensure fidelity to the program model as well as adherence to best peer support practices. Within the clinic, provides their personal account of lived experience with mental health challenges to service users, families, educators, community members and treatment providers. Participates in weekly clinic team meetings, assist with community outreach and education efforts, provides education and support to service users and their families as part of a clinical team, and collaborates with case managers to assist service users and their families in accessing community resources. Supervisory duties include development and implementation of the peer support training program at the SacEDAPT clinic. As a core member of the California Early Psychosis (EPI-CAL) Lived Experience Integration Team, the Behavioral Health Psychiatric Supervisor refines the training model for dissemination throughout the state and provide consultation on peer support workforce issues to clinics adopting an Early Psychosis Intervention model. This is a hybrid role with approximately 40% of the incumbent's time spent in the clinic or the field.

Minimum Qualifications
Four-year degree in social services (such as psychology, education, counseling, social work, sociology) or equivalent level of experience / training related to the practice of peer support.
Minimum of two years full-time experience providing direct peer support to youth/young adults (ages 12-40)
Experience overseeing the work of others
At least two years of experience in a leadership or advocacy role in mental health services
Direct personal experience in treatment for psychosis and ability to demonstrate good progress in their own recovery, including at least two years of active participation in mental health self-help activities, peer support or peer advocacy programs, or participant run organizations or similar experiences or programs
Experience interacting with people of diverse backgrounds, the ability to identify when differences in culture of language may impact communication, and how to resolve those differences appropriately and with cultural humility
Willingness to disclose their recovery story (where appropriate) for the primary purpose of benefitting program participants.
Demonstrated ability to empathize with, relate to and effectively work with participants of mental health services, particularly young people.
Excellent judgment/ ability to understand boundaries when working with participants of mental health services.
Knowledge of Windows-based computer software and electronic medical records.
General knowledge of business operations and employer concerns including an understanding of industry employment procedures and standards
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Knowledge of child, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other significant legislation and laws regulating mental health practice (patient confidentiality)
Valid CA driver's license with ability to transport self to daily appointments in the community
Preferred Qualifications
State certification as a Peer Support Specialist (California preferred)
Knowledge of specialized peer support and peer-driven service models such as Intentional Peer Support and Wellness Recovery Action Plan.
Understanding of the challenges and benefits of integrating peer support providers in clinical settings
State certification as a Peer Support Specialist (California preferred)
Direct personal experience in treatment for a psychosis-spectrum condition is strongly preferred
Prior experience with youth diagnosed with serious mental illness
Prior experience with documentation required by Sacramento County mental health system (such as Avatar) or UCDMC (such as EPIC)
