At Southwood Psychiatric Hospital we specialize in working children and adolescent males with special needs, autism or intellectually developmentally delayed (IDD)
Behavioral Health Associate (BHA) responsibilities:
- Ensure the well-being of patients and provide a positive, supportive, and structured environment.
- Responsible for conducting safety checks and ensuring that supervision is conducted at 15 minute intervals.
- Document timely, accurate and appropriate clinical information in patient's medical record.
- Interact routinely with patients, observe behaviors, and communicate significant observations to nursing staff.
- Engage patients in interactions, group therapy and activities designed to encourage achievement of treatment goals and increase therapeutic coping skills.
- Complete and maintain required documentation. Complete paperwork as required on incidents and events that may take place on the unit.
Job Requirements:
· Bachelors preferred, high school with two years’ experience.
· Understanding of and experience with dually diagnosed individuals is preferred.
· Knowledge of group dynamics preferred.
· Comprehensive Crisis Management (CCM) certification must be maintained to include annual refresher.
· CPR certification renewed bi-annually or upon expiration of certification.
· Must be knowledgeable of the normal developmental stages and behaviors for age group of assigned individuals.
· Maintains competence in identified universal, core and critical competencies.
· Valid PA Act 33/34 clearances
· Must meet job competencies within 90 days of hire.
