SalaryWe are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Direct Support Professional that is familiar with Autism and behaviors. In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing care and support to a young lady with autism who may experience behavioral outbursts. The position involves assisting the individual with all activities of daily living and implementing behavioral support strategies to ensure a safe and supportive living environment.
The individual receiving service has autism and behaviors she resides in a single person apartment complex. She receives 24 hour support.
Workers will assist the individual with behavioral support and day to day living skills in the home, such as food prep and cleanup, miscellaneous light house keeping and hygiene care. Support will also be provided in the community at times for activities such as exercise, community participation and socialization, appointments and other misc. events.
The individual is mostly cooperative but does requires redirection and prompting throughout the day. Although not frequent, behaviors/outburst can happen but are often able to be avoided by de-escalation and redirection. She does comply with staff, especially those who build a good relationship with her and know how to respond appropriately to her.
Previous behavioral support and/ or experience working with autism is preferred.
