About the program:
Our Life Enrichment Education Program (LEEP) provides a comprehensive education for students grades kindergarten through transition with complex disabilities and communication needs. The program focuses on supporting students to develop knowledge and skills that increase decision making, self-advocacy, independence and access to a full life. 
About this position:
The LEEP Coach works under the direction of the Behavior Consultant to create supportive settings for students from kindergarten through age 21 who have significant cognitive disabilities. Behavior services may include direct instruction for the student and/or classroom staff, consultation, data collection, and material development as directed by the Behavior Consultant.  The LEEP Coach is responsible for collecting and charting behavioral data, and communicating with teachers and behavioral consultants regarding student management issues and behavioral problems. The Coach provides training to others on topics specific to individual student programs and Behavior Support Plans to increase the capacity of the school team to effectively work with students.

Essential functions:

  • Assists the Behavior Consultant in developing programs, activities, and intervention strategies to promote positive student behavior.
  • Accurately and efficiently uses a variety of tools to collect and review data related to behavior support and individual education plans.
  • Uses a variety of tools to summarize data for use by the educational support teams.
  • Under the direction of the Behavior Consultant, provides input into the creation and implementation of individual behavior and safety plans with students.
  • Responds to students' escalated behavior in manner consistent with students' behavior support plans, safety plans, program philosophy, and CESD Board policies.
  • Assists Behavior Consultants, school staff, and parents in developing alternate interventions.
  • Facilitates student groups to teach transfer of skills in multiple settings e.g., cafeteria, playground, bus, community.
  • Communicates clearly and positively with staff, specialists, and administrators.
  • Generates written correspondence and reports that are well organized and grammatically correct, and provides required and requested documentation such as student progress and other monitoring data within proscribed timelines.
  • Identifies professional strengths and limitations, and sets and meets performance goals.

Minimum qualifications:

  • AA accepted; prefer Bachelor's Degree from an accredited University; Current Registered Behavior Technician certificate may be substituted.
  • Ability to remain professional, and not personalize threatening behavior by students (verbal and physical).
  • Ability to work cooperatively with Behavior Consultant and teacher to form interventions based on behavioral data.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in English, verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to collect and summarize data clearly and concisely in written form.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex written documents.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, contract management and database software, E-mail, and the Internet.
  • Ability to complete appropriate Oregon State approved behavioral intervention training, such as OIS, to carry out interventions.
  • Ability to obtain CPR and First Aid card.
  • Ability to obtain Type 10 vehicle certification.
  • Ability to maintain the integrity of confidential information relating to agency records and data, students, families, colleagues, or district patrons. The employee uses or relays personal and agency information only in the course of performing assigned responsibilities, and in the best interest of the individuals involved.

Salary: Range 20 of the classified salary schedule. New hires are eligible to come in at up to Step 4 of the classified salary schedule, depending on experience: $27.96 - $30.45 per hour.

Retirement plan contributions:
Clackamas ESD employees working 600 or more hours in a calendar year are eligible for the Oregon Public Employee Retirement, or PERS. There are two components to PERS, including the pension, which is primarily funded by CESD and The Individual Account Program, or IAP, which is funded by a six-percent deduction from your paycheck. If you are new to PERS, your PERS deduction will begin automatically after a six-month waiting period.
