Position: Beer & Wine Category Manager in McKinleyville
Status: Full time- in McKinleyville
Job Functions: To select, price, and promote designated products to meet objectives for sales, margin, and inventory turns in a timely manner. Provide prompt, friendly, and helpful customer service. Foster a team environment while meeting department objectives.
Responsibilities:
- CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Take initiative to assist customers with product questions, in a prompt, friendly, helpful manner, referring them to other staff when necessary.
- Provide product information to customers, staff and the marketing coordinator. Read literature assigned by supervisor and stay informed of the latest trends related to your department.
- STOCKING
- Check for back stock prior to stocking. Rotate older stock to front, making space for new stock.
- Plan and maintain attractive, fully stocked, rotated and faced sections (coolers) without over crowding.
- Pull short date or low-quality items and then follow the established procedures for recording and disposing of them in a timely manner.
- While stocking, check to ensure shelf tags are in place and correct. Label items accurately with price tags or signs if needed. Report price discrepancies to the data department or supervisor to assist with correction.
- DEPARTMENT MAINTENANCE
- Keep shelves, coolers, back stock and bins in clean, orderly condition. Dust and clean shelves and product when stocking. Remove and recycle trash promptly, sweep and mop floor as directed or needed.
- Maintain department equipment in working order and use it safely. Monitor cooler and freezer temperatures (where applicable) and follow established procedures for handling breakdowns. Advise Department Manager of equipment problems or needs.
- Record department shrink promptly and accurately to ensure reporting is turned into the Finance Department.
- Participate in periodic inventory.
- Attend meetings to plan promotions, cross-merchandise and advertise, as directed.
- ORDERING AND RECEIVING
- Receive and process all special orders. When processing deliveries, set aside special orders, match products with special order forms and notify customers in a timely manner.
- Place replenishment orders assigned by supervisor and ensure adequate supply without overstocking.
- Check for damage and unacceptable quality; notify supervisor of problems and obtain credits when necessary.
- Help with unloading as needed. Rotate overstock into storage as directed.
- OTHER
- Train, supervise, schedule and direct clerks as instructed. Provide back-up for vacations and illness of staff members.
- Ensure all practices meet, and staff is trained in, safe food handling and storage as specified by the Health Department.
- Follow company policies and practice safety on the job. Always follow Cal Osha Safety guidelines.
- Perform other tasks assigned by your Supervisor (Manager). See attached department task list.
- Propose new ideas for efficiency or products for the store.
Qualifications:
- Willingness and ability to learn to meet the changing demands of the job. Able to handle multiple demands.
- Experience serving the public. Able to project a friendly, outgoing personality.
- Demonstrates ability to follow through on commitments. Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with natural foods industry and food trends.
- Able to stand for long periods of time. Able to lift 50 lbs.
- Regular, predictable attendance.
