About Northwest Rockets
Our mission is to create a positive atmosphere where young athletes who want to be better basketball players can grow. The coaching staff consists of ex-college and professional players who are here to make a positive change in our athletes lives! Our goal is to develop happy, healthy, and confident basketball players in a safe and fun environment. We offer AAU teams and training for youth grades 3-12.
Job Description
Position is responsible for assisting the head coach with the Northwest Rockets program. The responsibilities of the position include creating strategies for the team, instructing the players, and providing mentorship. To be successful as a Basketball Coach, you should have solid knowledge of basketball and its rules, be able to develop winning strategies, and have good communication skills.
Qualifications
Required:
- Must have evenings and weekends available.
- Previous experience coaching youth basketball.
- Possess effective coaching techniques and skills.
- Must possess knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques of the sport.
- Ability to teach players the rules of the game.
- Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with head coach, coaches, parents, and athletes.
- Must have positive attitude, high energy, and good leadership skills.
- Provide mentorship.
- Be able to pass background check.
- CPR training.
Preferred:
- Experience coaching AAU basketball preferred.
Location
Practices held in various locations, primarily Newcastle/Factoria area. Games and tournaments are held across the Greater Seattle area.
Physical Requirements
Must have the ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time; exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, see and read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids;hear and understand speech at normal levels, outdoors and on the telephone; speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly; physical agility to lift up to 25 pounds to shoulder height and 50 pounds to waist height; and to bend, to stoop, to sit on the floor, to climb stairs, to walk and to reach overhead.
