Job Summary: The Bartender prepares beverages for servers and guests in a speedy, efficient, friendly, and professional manner by following standard recipes for traditional cocktails and specialty drinks.
- Prepares cocktails and/or beverages to guest specifications
- Describes all bar items; methods of preparation and prices as needed. Must have extensive knowledge of all bar/menu items
- Works with guests to accommodate special requests and special dietary needs
- Up sells established menu items or specials to maximize food and beverage revenues
- Serves menu items to guests in a prompt and courteous manner
- Performs pre and post-shift side work; set-up, breakdown, condiments, roll-ups etc
- Responds to guest inquiries and special requests promptly to ensure guest satisfaction; notifies supervisor of guests' complaints and unusual situations
- Cash handling/ balance bank at the end of each shift and calculating tip outs
- Serving tables when needed
- Bartending experience, preferably in a hotel/resort environment.
- Possess a strong knowledge of food and beverage preparation, hotel service standards, guest relations and etiquette. Must have extensive knowledge of wine, beer, liquors, waters and drink preparation
- Requires strong communication and interpersonal skills and commitment to a high level of guest satisfaction
- Ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Requires ability to learn and use telephone and POS computer systems used at the hotel.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand English to understand instructions, safety rules, and communicate with guests.
- Work schedules will include working on holidays, weekends and alternate shifts.
- Shift times are subject to change at any time, based on Department's needs. Applicants must be able to provide flexible availability, and can be scheduled for various shift times as needed by the Department Manager.
- Must be at least 21 years of age to serve alcoholic beverages. Must complete TIPS® (Training for Intervention Procedures) alcohol awareness certification as scheduled upon employment. Must have a valid current Food Handlers Card or willingness and ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
- Must know all applicable health standards.
- Must maintain a clean appearance and professional demeanor.
