The Barn Assistant will support the Equestrian Services Manager care of horses and maintaining the general needs of the Equestrian Center. This position will also assist with lessons and programs as needed.
Minimum Qualifications: High School diploma or GED. Experience with horses and care of horses. General knowledge of farm equipment. Must possess a valid driver’s license that meets the requirements of the insurance carrier. Must have the ability to lift and transfer. This position requires the availability for flexible work schedules. Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and the ability to speak and write proficiently in English is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform daily care of horses and small animals, including feeding, mucking stalls, turnout, blanketing, etc.
- Assist with lessons and programs as assigned.
- Assist with maintaining medical records for each horse.
- Cleaning and maintaining riding spaces.
- Routine grooming and/or treatments for horses as assigned.
- Complete barn tasks as assigned.
- Communicate maintenance issues to center manager.
- Maintains neat and orderly riding areas, tack room, feed room, and aisles.
- Responsible for cleaning tack, doing monthly safety checks of tack and equipment and communicate concerns to Equestrian Services Manager.
- Successfully complete in-service requirements and meet renewal schedules.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
