Crew Member/ Barista

Pink Owl Coffee is a fast-growing coffee shop that is based in Petaluma and San Rafael, CA. We serve all high quality coffee based drinks and we bake our own in house baked goods like coffee cake, scones and banana bread. We are in need of additional team members to keep up with demand. We specialize in freshly baked goods and coffee drinks for our coffee shops and catering. We are looking for long-term employees to grow with us and not only follow the recipes we have but be creative enough to present new ideas and recipes to the owners and management.

Who are we looking for?

If you are good with people, responsible, comfortable in the kitchen and have a strong work ethic, we'll teach you the rest.

What you will do:

This is a barista and cashier position in our company, there are flexible hours and days available and we are currently looking for either full or part time positions that are responsible for prep, cashier, customers, drinks and clean-up and so many more fun things to learn.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

• Maintain a positive attitude at all times and be reliable
• Work well on a team
• Follow company policies and procedures
• Perform shifts as scheduled to open and close the shop
• Complete company orders with attention to detail and accuracy
• Identify and recover guests who are dissatisfied with service and/or product
• Ensure all food is prepared, handled and stored according to all required food safety code standards
• Assist in kitchen to support all food and drink activities
• Food Handler's Certificate required upon hire

REQUIREMENTS

• RELIABILITY AND EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE ARE REQUIRED.
• One year of experience in a customer service environment preferred
• Previous quick service food handling experience in either the hospitality or food and beverage industry a plus
• Must maintain and follow strict cleaning and food handling/safety guidelines. Gloves are required at all times.
• Has integrity, positive attitude & takes initiative.
• Is comfortable working on a team and independently.
• Must be trustworthy. Will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to protect recipes, etc.
• Has the ability to work well under pressure.
• Has excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently.
• Ability to multitask while paying special attention to detail and is meticulous.
• Previous experience using POS (point-of-sale) equipment is a plus
• Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule according to business needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Frequent walking, kneeling, bending, and reaching overhead
• Able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English

Work Schedule:

• Shifts are available Monday - Sunday, variable shifts available based on experience
• 15-30 hours per week
• Must be flexible; schedule may change

Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations and ensure smooth running of the shift
- Provide excellent customer service and address any customer concerns or issues
- Train and mentor team members on food preparation, sales techniques, and customer service
- Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Handle cash register transactions and reconcile cash drawer at the end of the shift
- Assist with inventory management and restocking of supplies
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment

Experience:
- Previous experience in a similar role in the food service or retail industry is preferred
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and food safety regulations
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to handle difficult situations professionally
- Proficient in operating a cash register and handling cash transactions accurately
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively
- Basic math skills for cash handling and retail calculations
