JOB TITLE:Banquet Manager
REPORTS TO: Food and Beverage Manager
JOB DUTIES:
- Analyze Banquet Event Orders, communicate effectively with clients, guests, managers and associates to ensure that all room set-ups, equipment, supplies, staffing and menus meet/exceed expectations.
- Review all schedules, equipment, supplies and organize work flow to ensure a quality event to customers on a daily basis.
- Monitor and control department expenses (e.g. labor costs, beverage costs, supplies and equipment) within budgetary guidelines while ensuring that guest/client service expectations are exceeded.
- Ensure compliance with all brand requirements, safety and security regulations, and property policies and procedures.
- Motivate, inspire, train (and re-train, as necessary), develop, empower, coach, and counsel banquet staff. Conduct performance reviews and resolve employment-related issues by providing open lines of communication. Recommend discipline and termination, as appropriate.
- Participate in all special projects, task forces and committees, as requested.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Post high school education and a minimum of two years supervisory experience in banquet operation required. Experience in full service hotel banquets environment preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the catering, food & beverage and hospitality professions required. This includes experiential knowledge for management of people, complex problems, efficient sales activities and food & beverage management.
- Strong leadership skills required.
- Requires ability to investigate and analyze current activities and/or information involving readily available data and indicating logical conclusions and recommendations.
- Strong interest in the Food and Beverage field required. Must be able to provide creative, innovative and quality-minded suggestions for continuous product improvement (e.g. buffet set-ups, ideas for creative breaks, new china/glass/linen products, etc.)
- Ability to make occasional decisions which are generally guided by established policy and procedures required.
- Effective oral and written communication skills required.
- Professional appearance including dress code, grooming, and behavior required.
TRAVEL REQUIRED: Minimal, as requested.
EXPECTED WORKLOAD: 40-50 hours over a 5-day period; days and times will vary based on need.
