Position Summary
A Banking Center Operations Specialist is a dual role that provides superior quality customer service and a positive banking experience for customers. Responsible for opening and closing personal and commercial new accounts, processing teller transactions including cashing checks, receiving and processing deposits and withdrawals, making transfers, balancing teller drawer and other assistance as requested. Performs maintenance to customer accounts and assists with all lobby services as requested including answering phones, safe deposit entry, answering customer questions and resolving related account problems. Work involves a high level of interaction with customers and staff and requires an ability to communicate effectively with prospective and current customers as well as ensure accurate and timely processing of transaction in accordance with established teller policies and procedures.
New Accounts Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Responsible for describing available accounts and explaining the services connected to each type such as the use of ATMs, direct deposit and overdraft protection.
  2. Open and close accounts such as checking, savings, IRA’s and Certificate of Deposit accounts.
  3. Assist client with new account paperwork.
  4. Order checks and debit cards.
  5. Input new accounts and submit completed new accounts packages
  6. Prepare documentation for new accounts under the Bank’s CIP/BSA policies.
  7. Follow up on requests from clients and loan officers in a timely manner.
  8. Presents funds received from customer to teller deposit, and obtain receipt for customer.
  9. May execute wire transfers of funds.
  10. Provides information to new and prospective customers regarding interest rates, account charges and other pertinent account information.
  11. Complies with federal and state regulations and all established bank policies and procedures.
Teller Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Operates and maintains a cash drawer including posting deposits, withdrawals, transfers, loan payments and cashing checks.
  2. Maintain accurate details of each transaction.
  3. Prepares daily general ledger entries.
  4. Perform vault functions, as necessary.
  5. Assist with daily balancing of coin machine.
  6. Assist customers/potential customers with account or product inquiries.
  7. Balance teller drawer, verify accuracy of posted transactions.
  8. Promotes the bank’s products and services; consistently cross-sell bank products at every opportunity.
  9. Makes concentrated effort to solve customer problems.
  10. Promote and maintain positive relations with all contacts, customers and potential customers.
  11. Comply with all department and company policies and procedures.
Other Responsibilities
  • Support and promote the Bank vision, mission and core values, organizational structure and policies and procedures.
  • Must have excellent analysis, observation and decision making skills.
  • Individual should be able to work under high pressure situations and a stressful atmosphere and then should remain composed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • A self-starting individual who possesses the following skills: High School Diploma or G.E.D. and at least one year (1) of banking experience in new accounts, teller or lending.
  • Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Skills should include typing, PC, 10-key calculator, and ability to handle large quantities of currency.
  • Good problem solving skills and solid decision making, effective communication, prioritization and organization of work activities.
  • Mental concentration is necessary for handling frequent interruptions and working in a fast paced environment.
  • Position can be mentally and physically stressful, requires standing for most of the work day, and requires lifting, carrying, or moving heavy boxes or bags of currency and coin weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours as scheduled Monday through Saturday.
