Bakery Storefront Associate

Blacksburg Bagels is an established farmers market, retail, and wholesale bakery based in Blacksburg, VA, specializing in bagels and other hard to find favorites. Our aim is to create traditional baked goods to share with our community. We regularly provide sourdough bread, pretzels, sandwich loaves, croissants, crackers, pitas, naan, and baguettes for local restaurants, shops, families, and farmers markets every week.

We recently celebrated one year in our new storefront. We've grown a lot since we started the shop and we are looking to find new members to help us keep it running smoothly. As part of our growth we have more staff, products, equipment, and supplies than ever before and it would be great to have someone that could commit to a steady work schedule to help keep everything in order. Several opportunities to learn more about the processes of running a small business and working with state inspection agencies.

10 hours per week guaranteed with up to full time work available for the right person. Applicant must be willing to work weekends as well as 2-3 mornings during the week. Baking experience is strongly preferred but not necessary as this position is more focused on running the shop itself. Training would begin immediately upon hiring.

Shifts may start very early compared to what many are used to. Typically no earlier than 6am but on occasion we may start at 3. It is essential that you are able to report as expected to work since there's no way we can call in additional help at that time.
