Who We Need on Our Team
Our Bakery Assistant position truly is feeding our operational greatness and is the driving force behind our cafes and restaurants. Your culinary expertise will have the opportunity to shine as you assist our bakers to bring our visions and taste buds to life. With a passion for all things confection, our Bakery Assistant is responsible for helping to deliver exceptional treats to our valued customers.
Your Day-to-Day Routine (although no day is the same)
- Understand & execute food standards, policies, procedures, specifications, guidelines of baking operations.
- Clean kitchen equipment and tools before and after use.
- Properly bake and prepare products. Follow written production area guidelines for quality, value, service, and cleanliness.
- Know how to rotate, prepare, and store food.
- Properly handle storage and movement of product to work area.
- Crafting and creating new and exciting ideas.
- Communicate to the Baker when you need supplies for baking projects.
- Check stock to ensure an adequate supply based on projected volume. Always check with Baker to ensure accuracy of stock levels.
- Clean as you go. Maintain cleanliness of counters, appliances, and equipment.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Skills You Need to Bring to The Table
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a baker's assistant in a high-volume bakery organization preferred.
- Valid Food Handlers Certificate required.
- Understanding of food safety practices.
- Must know how to operate commercial bakery equipment such as divider, rounder, mixer, oven, pie press, proof box, sheeter, steam jacketed kettle and stove.
- Must have basic baking skills such as scaling, mixing, proofing, baking, cooking,
- decorating and use of knives.
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude.
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts.
