The Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) works to end mass incarceration. To ensure our communities are safe, healthy, and whole, ARC empowers formerly and currently incarcerated people to thrive by providing a support network, comprehensive reentry services, and opportunities to advocate for policy change. Position Summary

The Bail Reform Fellow is responsible for mobilizing and empowering ARC members and the community to engage in support of our Bail Reform efforts. The Fellow will also collaborate with other community-based organizations to eliminate cash bail and bring additional counties in alignment with local Bail Reforms in Los Angeles and other jurisdictions. The position will have a duration of 1 year, with a planned end date of January 3, 2025. You will report directly to the Associate Director of Local Advocacy.

Essential Job Functions

  • Work with the advocacy team to develop and implement member outreach and engagement strategies in support of eliminating cash bail.
  • Attend community organizing trainings.
  • Monitor Los Angeles County’s new pre-arraignment release protocols and impact.
  • Research Bail Reforms in other jurisdictions for potential alignment.
  • Develop social media content, flyers, and engage the public and our members in advocacy and organizing events related to eliminating cash bail.
  • Organize events, workshops, and listening sessions locally with members in support of eliminating cash bail.
  • Help coordinate and identify organizations in different counties interested in aligning with LA county Bail Reform.
  • Attend monthly ARC member services activities.
  • Attend weekly Advocacy and Community Organizing team meetings.
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of criminal and juvenile justice issues in California or lived experience/being formerly incarcerated.
  • Experience in community organizing.
  • Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Outstanding critical thinking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skill
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to execute day-to-day tasks and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to travel throughout the state of California and nationally, as required.

Skill Sets: Highly motivated and able to multi-task. Team spirit, with trust in coworkers. Requires excellent written and verbal communication including the ability to write clear emails/reports. Requires excellent interpersonal and community engagement skills. Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office.

The Bail Reform Fellow will have the following experience and attributes:

Salary/Benefits

  • Pay rate is $55k - $60k doe.
