Backfill Excavator Operator

About the position:

The Mainline Excavator Operator will be responsible for safely and effectively operating mainline excavators on various commercial and residential pipework projects. Tasks will be completed while maintaining situational awareness, personal safety, and company policies and procedures. Position is seasonal during the spring, summer, and fall. There is a possibility for work in the winter as well, working in snow removal.

Job type and schedule: Full-time. Typical business hours are Monday - Friday, 7 am - 5:30 pm. Seasonal Spring, Summer, and Fall, with possibility of year-round work.

Physical requirements: Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of the day, operate equipment. Must be able to lift 75 pounds.

You will:

• Excavate trenches for installation of underground utility pipes of all types and sizes
• Complete grading and compacting tasks in accordance to plans
• Abide by safety protocols and regulations
• Collaborate with supervisors and team members to problem-solve and complete projects
• Complete all jobs within specified timelines
• Maintain proper documentation and reporting procedures
• Assist with any additional tasks, as needed and assigned

You will need to have:

• Experience using equipment around live utilities, gas, and electric lines in a safe manner
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Working understanding of grading and alignments for pipe placement
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds
• Capability to work in all types of weather

It would be great if you have:

• Prior experience operating any/all CAT and/or Komatsu equipment
• Prior experience running various types of equipment
• Prior experience with pipework

Pay range:

Will be negotiated at time of hire, commensurate with each person's experience.
