Your Role: We are seeking a Backend Engineering Manager who will report to our CTO. In this role, you will be responsible for building, managing, and monitoring backend services at scale. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, collaborating with a talented team, and receive the support you need to grow professionally. Your strong time management, effective communication, and ability to lead a fully distributed team will be essential as you provide mentorship and guidance.
Your Impact:
- Lead, shape and communicate the technical strategy for the team.
- Ensure the team stays on track to achieve its goals, making course corrections when necessary.
- Facilitate technical design sessions, retrospectives, and 1:1 meetings.
- Drive the ongoing professional development of the team.
- Contribute to the hiring strategy, participate in interviews, and influence hiring decisions.
- Serve as a point of contact for other areas of the business.
- Relentlessly remove impediments that hinder the team's progress.
- Design and develop the Platform.
- Create an architecture that scales while maintaining quality in high-volume environments.
- Stay updated with the latest technologies in the market, including cloud infrastructure, serverless computing, container orchestration, and more.
- Enable complex relational queries and value rendering by managing a graph representation of resources and their relationships.
- Utilize machine learning, open source technologies, graph analysis, drift detection, and cloud capabilities to generate insights and enhance user security posture.
- Manage a group of highly talented and motivated engineers.
Your Experience:
- A degree in Computer Science Engineering or a related field.
- 6+ years of experience as a developer.
- 2+ years of management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of Python.
- Strong architectural skills, with a focus on scalability and extensibility.
- Proficiency in databases such as MySQL, Postgres, and MongoDB.
- Experience with backend frameworks like Django, Flask, or FastAPI.
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (AWS) or other cloud providers.
- Previous involvement in live production systems at scale.
- Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or Cloud Formation is advantageous.
- An independent and self-motivated mindset, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for learning cutting-edge technologies.
