Position Summary

We are currently looking for a Digital Solutions Architect to work out of our office in Pittsburgh, PA, or remotely on the East Coast. The Digital Solutions Architect is responsible for the conceptualization, design, implementation, and management of solutions and enhancements to Evoqua's Internet of Things technology platform, Link2Site. The role will be a member of an Agile software development team working closely with a Product Owner and a cross-functional development team. This team delivers the quality solutions expected of a leading partner for water technology solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a unique combination of technical, business, and interpersonal abilities and be comfortable taking ownership and responsibility of the architecture and solutions derived from business and functional requirements as well as guiding the future of the IoT platform through innovation and adoption of cloud strategies to meet the changing needs of the organization. They will also be proficient or an expert in the existing tech stack used in IoT solutions and be willing to learn new technologies to support these and future solutions. Communication and multi-tasking skills will also be key when working within the team.

Core Responsibilities and Tasks

1. Drive Design and Implementation of IoT Architecture:

  • Plan, design, implement, maintain, and patch IoT solutions in Azure cloud, including web portals, API's,  microservices data structures, and networking infrastructure using the supported technologies available and by closely working and interacting with the global team.
  • Manage, monitor continuous data flow from devices to cloud and through Edge gateways and hubs to local infrastructure portal and work with Microsoft support team to resolve circuit breaks and technical issues within short duration.
  • Monitor the health of cloud instances and perform routine or pre-emptive maintenance to ensure optimum performance.
  • Coordinate effort with development team to provide optimized efficient visualization, reports and dashboards in the applications.
  • Assist in troubleshooting issues that may occur in cloud-based systems.
  • Be a technical subject matter expert on Azure cloud-based technology and enterprise solutions.
  • Help define and enforce best architectural practices and procedures across our cloud infrastructure designs.
  • Evaluate emerging software technologies and adopt as appropriate to accelerate product capabilities.

2. Participate in Product Demos and SAFe Ceremonies

  • Lead Architectural Design Sessions and technical meetings.
  • Plan, schedule and attend meetings between business owners and developers to derive architectural approach documents from communicated requirements - and help refine those requirements.
  • Directly apply principles from the Microsoft Well-Architected Framework into design specifications.

3. Support Development and Operational Efforts:

  • Personally create best in class software solutions.
  • Align solutions with existing and emerging technologies and ideologies such as Azure DevOps, CI/CD, automated testing, Infrastructure as Code, machine learning and big data analytics.
  • Coordinate with the entire team to design, develop, troubleshoot and optimize IoT solutions and quality front end software portals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide integrated solutions across cloud and On-Prem environments and with partners such as SAP, CRM, and SendGrid/Twilio.
  • Assist in solutioning for a growing platform to improve reliability, scalability and maintainability with security being a cornerstone of future development.
  • Be a point of contact between global locations and onshore consultants.
     
Position Requirements

Education: 

  • Required: Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Science/IT or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate and Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert

Experience: 
Required:

  • 10 years of experience in a related Software Development Field
  • 7 years of experience building solutions with Azure SaaS, PaaS and IaaS technologies
  • Diverse background implementing and supporting Microsoft-based services and applications
  • Strong knowledge of IoT and networking architecture from devices to cloud (Devices, Gateways, Connectivity, Cloud, VNets, Apps, Analytics, and Visualization)
  • Experience in public cloud based IoT infrastructure and security design across all aspects including performance, stability, resiliency, availability, and security
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated with a desire to learn new tools and technologies
  • Strong project and time management skills, with ability to manage and execute multiple projects in a remote environment
  • Highly organized with the ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and keep track of minute details
  • Ability to work and collaborate with team members across multiple time zones
  • Working knowledge of PowerPlatform offerings and capabilities
  • Experience working with Azure PaaS services Cloud Services, App Services, Functions, Logic Apps, IoT Hub, Device Provisioning Service, Service Bus, Event Hub, SQL Database, Load Tester, Data Factory, Key Vault, and Azure Machine Learning Studio
  • Experience working with SaaS services DevOps, PowerBI Embedded, Advisor and Monitor
  • Experience working with Azure IaaS offerings such as Storage, Private Link and various networking load balancers

Preferred:

  • Experience working in an Agile software development team
  • Experience in water or utility industries
  • Experience with Azure IoT Hub device and service SDKs
  • Experience with Microsoft Identity providers and authorization/authentication methods including AAD/Microsoft Entra ID, Managed Identities and Private Endpoints
  • Experience of software development in an Azure supported framework, Core API development, .NET Core MVC and Razor pages, and Azure Cloud Development
  • Working knowledge of RESTful and SOAP APIs

  • Knowledge of machine learning solution design leveraging artificial intelligence workloads.
