Job Summary
The Assistant Vice President of Perioperative Services has the overall responsibility for maintaining 24-hour accountability for the operational, fiscal and administrative functions of the North Region. Leads the service line and manages patient/unit populations to achieve identified, evidence-based outcomes. Ensures clinical care in all locations is provided according to North Region and industry standards.
Works with Executive Sponsor and Physician Executive dyad partner(s) to develop and execute the Service Line strategy and maximize the impact of a service line across the Region. The Service Line Assistant Vice President partners with physician, nursing and administrative leadership to advance consistency and improvement in clinical outcomes; patient, provider and team member experience; growth; and financial performance for the assigned service line per the system Service Line strategy. Partners with regional and entity physician, nursing and clinical leadership to advance integration and standardization to ensure the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Develop and execute a standardized operating model and strategy across the region. (10%)
  • Lead a team to drive performance of the Service Line to achieve organizational and Service Line targets (safety, quality outcomes, experience, resource use, revenue and expense, and growth). (25%)
  • Partner with their physician dyad leadership to manage and support physician practice, growth, performance, and academic/research activities in the Service Line. (10%)
  • Identify opportunities and structures to support strong relationships among physicians, nursing leadership, administrative leaders and other service line team members across the region. (5%)
  • Optimize of clinical programs and services across the region, including the creation of consistent scorecards to track performance (quality, patient experience, people, growth, efficiency, profitability). (10%)
  • Partner with physician and administrative leadership to determine optimal strategy for asset distribution per the Service Line strategy. (10%)
  • Identify and partners with Medical Group, Quality & Experience, and System Services leadership to identify and execute on opportunities to bring consistency to clinical and administrative practices across the region (staffing, care protocols, access systems, etc.). (10%)
  • Develop and share outcomes metric performance to identify opportunities for improvement within the service line and for transfer of best practices across the region. (10%)
  • Determine operational and capital investments required to support service line priorities across the region and advances requests through Regional and System approval structures. (10%)

Minimum Education Requirements:
Master's degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Nursing, or other healthcare related degree
Minimum Work Experience:
Ten (10) years of relevant healthcare operations experience with a minimum of five (5) of the ten (10) years in a leadership capacity. Clinical-area specific experience

Environment
This job carries the potential for employee exposure to blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious materials, chemicals and other hazardous conditions which may pose a potential health risk. Each employee is trained and is expected to observe all fire and safety procedures and blood borne pathogens and hazard communication standards.
Physical Demands
  • When in the clinical environment, must utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
  • When applicable, wear an N95 mask/PAPR and other Personal Protective Equipment.
  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, lifting throughout the shift.

Technical Skills
  • Microsoft Office suite experience with advanced Excel skills.
  • Ability to navigate system applications and run analytical reports.
