Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a college or university
- A minimum of 2.5 GPA, evidenced by college transcript
- Prefer strong math and English Arts background
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Take an active role in developing the academic and personal strengths of AVID students
- Serve as a role model/mentor to AVID students by being a lifelong learner, demonstrating appropriate academic and social behaviors, and wearing appropriate attire at all times
- Take a responsibility for the tone and atmosphere of the AVID classroom
- Actively participate in collaborative groups and tutorials
- Facilitate the tutorial learning process and implement AVID methodologies
- Conduct tutorial sessions that underscore the principle of collaborative learning and the practice of students teaching students through discussion of class and text notes
- Determine from student tutorial worksheets, notes, and discussions the concepts that need to be the focus of tutorial sessions
- Assist students in any subject area, by being familiar with students' textbooks and materials and AVID classroom resources
- Assist in teaching study skills and other aspects of college preparation
- Evaluate student binders, including calendars, class and textbook notes, and learning logs
- Assist the AVID teacher as requested: such as helping students in maintaining their AVID binders, contacting teachers regarding course outlines and assignment schedules, filed trip preparation, etc.
- Communicate regularly with the AVID teacher regarding progress and areas of concern
- Adhere to district/school policies and procedures
- Attend all required tutorial training

- Tuesdays/Thursdays
- Hours depend on the master schedule
