Aviation Technical Writer 1

Overview
We are seeking a full-time Aviation Technical Writer I in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for creating reader-friendly user's guides and installation and maintenance manuals.
Essential Functions

• Research and write pilot's guides, quick reference guides, installation manuals, and/or maintenance manuals
• Create electronic documents using word processing and desktop publishing tools
• Communicate with the Design Engineers in areas that relate to the product specifications and product development
• Facilitate the rework of mechanical drawings and screen captures

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in a related field OR a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in the aviation industry and working with and/or using avionics
• Demonstrated proficiency using word processing tools such as Microsoft Word
• Detail-oriented and have the ability to work proactively
• Demonstrated strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

Desired Qualifications

• Experience and/or knowledge in electronics relevant to this position
• Proficiency in effectively using Adobe InDesign
• Experience with AutoCAD, Adobe Illustrator, and Photoshop
• Familiar with aviation phraseology and flight operations procedures
• Basic understanding of S1000D documentation standards
