General Description:

The Aviation Site Director (ASD) leads a dynamic Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul facility supporting a wide variety of Government, and Commercial aviation customers. The ASD manages the resources that plan, execute, control, and inspect all aircraft maintenance, modification, and support programs to ensure on time delivery of safe and high-quality work that provides value to our customers. Must be a customer-oriented leader and management expert with extensive skill in aircraft maintenance and modification planning and execution. Must be an expert in leading employee recruiting efforts, manpower management, safety, environmental compliance and quality control applications. The ASD has responsibility for the FAA Part 145 Repair Station and the AS9110 Quality Management System. Responsible for the supervision of all rotary and fixed wing aircraft maintenance.

Duties:

  • Leading
    • Responsible for all FAA, Safety and Quality Compliance within the aviation maintenance facilities.
    • Ensure completion of required aircraft airworthiness inspections appropriate to both military and civil aircraft.
    • Supports and supervises an active safety program in conjunction with Aviation Safety Official.
    • Develops and administers and enforces flight and ground operating procedures IAW DCMA 8210.1D, service guidance and company policies.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly facility to create a safe and inviting work space for employees and customers.
    • Travel up to 10% of time to support company efforts with international travel required occasionally.
    • Performs other duties as assigned by Executive Management
  • Communicating
    • Develops, publishes, trains, and enforces flight and ground operating procedures complaint with DCMA 8210.1D and serves as the primary POC to DCMA.
    • Develops and presents special and recurring reports for internal and external customers.
    • Effectively communicates objectives to supervisors and lead personnel.
    • Communicates routinely with internal and external customers, OEMs and subcontractors.
    • Attends daily meetings with customer as required to plan inspections and aircraft availability; prepares reports and conducts briefings as required.
  • Managing
    • Manages all maintenance, production control, and aviation logistics personnel.
    • Performs as or supervises the accountable Manager for an active FAA Part 145 repair station and/or the Maintenance Manager for the AS9110 QMS.
    • Assures proper utilization of personnel to ensure aircraft are inspected and returned to service in a timely manner.
    • Ensures that site Quality Management System is administered and operating in accordance with higher level quality requirements.
    • Responsible for ensuring that all Part 145, AS9110 QMS, and company policies and procedures are understood by employees and complied with at all levels.
  • Planning
    • Develops Basis of Estimates for work by determining work requirements, personnel required, repair parts, time allocation, equipment and facility requirements necessary to perform maintenance actions at a complex, multi-function aviation facility.
    • Plans and directs project execution.
    • Monitors and develops reports on progress.
  • Executing
    • Directs project execution to deliver on-time quality product and services.
    • Allocates resources to meet ever-changing program requirements and develops maintenance assignments to meet requirements of program schedules as determined by the customer.
    • Ensures all aspects of the safety, quality, and maintenance programs are understood and complied with and that all Part 145, AS9110 and company standards are met or exceeded.
    • Ensure correct, complete preparation of all required forms, certifications, and reports regarding the aircraft, their availability and associated ground support equipment as defined in the contract.
    • Implements and supervises a training program to train new personnel, upgrade skills, train on new equipment, and cross train personnel to develop a qualified work force.
    • Supports and administers preventative maintenance and corrosion control programs for all aircraft and all assigned GSE and GFP
    • Implements and administers an active FOD Program for work areas and flight line areas.
    • Enforces TSA security requirements on an international airport.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of a military aviation maintenance management course or commercial equivalent.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in a related field.
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant License (A&P) preferred.
  • Current Inspection Authorization (IA) certificate desired.
  • 15 years of experience managing complex DoD and/or FAA aviation maintenance programs with extensive knowledge of high-level maintenance management and planning.
  • 15 years of experience supervising aviation maintenance with 10 years supervising large teams of 50 or more personnel.
  • Must have an extensive working knowledge of both military and general aviation aircraft and maintenance principles.
  • Effective leadership of maintenance teams and oral / written communication skills are critical.
  • Must have verifiable experience with maintenance requirements at the organizational, intermediate, and depot levels (Field and Sustainment).
  • Experience in maintenance of aircraft, logbooks and other maintenance records IAW Service Guidance using Services software and tools.
  • Must be able to handle complex administrative and technical details and perform duties as the Program Manager in his absence.
  • Must possess effective communicative skills, both oral and written, to deal with corporate and customer concerns.
  • Must have a proven history of reliability and demonstrated initiative with proactive supervisory management skills as an aircraft mechanic and supervisor.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Current security clearance or have no disqualifying issues that prevent obtaining a clearance.
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a US Passport.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Must be able to walk or stand on level and/or inclined surfaces and sit for extended periods of time.

  • Must be able to routinely grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbows / knees, and reach above / below shoulders.
  • Works in a normal office environment with controlled temperature and lighting conditions.
