RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Maintenance Work:
- Performs a wide variety of general and semi-skilled maintenance activities (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, painting, electrical) for completing projects within established time frames.
- Removes trash in accordance with established procedures.
- Cleans and preserves a variety of surfaces, using a wide range of chemicals according to state and federal regulations.
- Handles and disposes of hazardous materials and blood borne pathogens with care.
Maintenance Requests:
- Receives, processes, and resolves requests for routine maintenance needs.
- Schedules, coordinates, directs, and performs routine and comprehensive maintenance of assigned facilities.
- Responds to emergencies during and after hours for resolving immediate safety concerns.
Preventative Maintenance:
- Performs preventative maintenance in and around facilities; manages/produces a calendar for routine maintenance (vehicle maintenance, vent cleaning, fire suppression systems, etc.)
- Completes daily, weekly, and monthly checklists on equipment maintenance procedures and maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
Inventory:
- Maintains inventory and submits written requests for supplies; tests and evaluates new supplies and equipment.
Operational Oversight:
- Works with University vendors (food service, vending, etc.) to ensure they are complying with any contractual requirements for preventative maintenance of equipment, cleanliness, use of facilities, etc.
- Provides recommendation to leadership regarding equipment replacement and other service needs.
- Maintains a 5-year renewal and replacement project list to ensure Auxiliary Enterprises facilities and equipment remain in optimal condition and meet the needs of the growing campus community.
- Collaborates with other departmental staff, including facilities managers, technicians, and administrative personnel, to coordinate maintenance activities and support overall departmental goals.
- Identifies opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the maintenance operations, and actively participates in initiatives to enhance departmental effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- On-sight point of contact for any capital projects, routine services, or other maintenance work associated with Auxiliary Enterprises.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of general safety protocol (OSHA) when operating/maintaining University equipment (food service equipment, vehicles, etc.)
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to work under inclement weather conditions, and in an environment containing caustic chemicals, cleaning materials, dust, and noise.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Completion of a high school diploma or GED.
- Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including related work experience in one or more of the building trades.
- Some experience with preventative Maintenance and/or servicing of food service equipment.
- Some knowledge of vehicle maintenance.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experience maintaining facilities and equipment in a higher education setting;
- 3 years’ experience maintaining food service equipment and/or operations;
- Experience in managing facility, vehicle, and equipment maintenance programs.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., evenings and weekends may be required.
TARGET HIRING SALARY: $25.00 hourly.
