Job description

We are looking for a Application Engineer (aka Field Application Engineer) to lead this charge. You will help US automotive prospects and customers to understand and adopt the industry's leading software architecture. You will engage advanced programs, dig into their problems and potential, and guide them in joining the intelligent distributed future. You will get a front-row seat to the most exciting, challenging, and important programs in the industry. Our ideal candidate will have a mix of network programming along with Embedded system experience. Experience with automotive customers and software technology is a plus. Check out this blog that details exactly what an FAE does!

In the next ten years, cars will safely drive themselves, hospitals will automatically better care for patients, defense systems will protect with lower cost and error, and power systems will better use renewables. Real-Time Innovations (RTI) is a software company with the world's number one framework for this intelligent future. We lead the transition to intelligent real-world systems, the most important technology trend for the next decade and beyond.

These systems cannot exist without sharing data at unprecedented speed and scale. RTI's fundamental opportunity is to provide the architecture that enables connected intelligent machines.  Simply put, RTI connects smarts to distributed systems. We are the best in the world at enabling practical AI to control real systems. Our software already runs the largest power plants in North America, connects perception to control in over 250 autonomous vehicles, controls air traffic on three continents, drives a new generation of medical robotics, controls metro transit, enables urban air mobility (flying cars), runs multi-user VR holodecks, and supports AI-enabled patient monitoring. We are making the world greener, safer, faster, and flat-out cooler. We are the best positioned company in the world to create the future of smart distributed systems. There is no better place to learn and help build the new intelligent world.

Responsibilities:

  • Help teams building advanced automotive systems choose their future software architecture.
  • Explain RTI technology to executives, architects, program managers and developers
  • Develop Proof-of-Concept prototypes and demonstrations with prospects
  • Develop sales strategies with your account manager teammate
  • Communicate customer technical requirements to Product Management and engineering to help evolve our technology
  • Join our active online developer community forum as an RTI and domain expert
  • Communicate RTI's technology in published technical articles and speaking engagements

Requirements:

  • Must-haves:
    • BS or higher in engineering or computer science, MS preferred
    • 5+ years in application-facing technical professional services or sales
    • Experience in automotive, robotics, medical systems, advanced industrial automation, or related application areas.  Eagerness to learn the rest.
    • Experience with one or more of: C/C++/Python/Java/.NET
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Strong understanding of OS and network concepts (UDP, Multicast, etc.)
    • Self-motivated sales attitude, comfortable on a team and without day-to-day direction
  • Useful additional experience is a plus:
    • Messaging or high-performance distributed systems
    • Embedded systems
    • JMS, AMQP, MQTT and Web Services

Don't meet every single requirement? At RTI, we are dedicated to building a diverse, inclusive, and authentic workplace so if you're excited about this role but your past experience doesn't perfectly align with all qualifications in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway! You may be just the right candidate for this or another one of our open roles. Learn more about RTI's Diversity initiatives here!

What we offer you:

  • Flexible working schedule
  • Remote working + Home Office Stipend to cover the costs of working from home
  • Flexible Paid Time Off + "Real Vacation Bonus," an additional bonus for taking more than 1-week of uninterrupted vacation
  • Annual bonus based on individual and company performance + other prizes and awards
  • We recognize employees for their achievements, offer great opportunities for career growth and development, and provide the tools they need to succeed
