TR Toppers is a national food processing company located in Pueblo, CO. We specialize in processing name-brand candies and other types of inclusions used in various food products, such as ice cream and cakes, and shipping them throughout the company. We are a progressive family-owned business that is rapidly growing.
SUMMARY: This position ensures the operation of machinery through mechanical or automated equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines. It is responsible for following diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer instructions, engineering specifications, and troubleshooting malfunctions.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install, maintain, and repair automated systems, machinery, and equipment in the production environment.
  • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose malfunctions or breakdowns in automation equipment, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions.
  • Program, configure, and calibrate automated systems and controls to meet production requirements and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with production teams to design, develop, and implement automation solutions for process improvement and efficiency enhancement.
  • Monitor automated processes and performance indicators, analyzing data to identify trends, anomalies, or areas for optimization.
  • Train production staff on safely and adequately operating automation equipment and systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and spare parts and supplies inventory.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, regulations, and company policies to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, technological advancements, and best practices in automation technology, recommending innovations or upgrades as appropriate.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (Please document your education/experience on your resume in detail):
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Proven experience working with automation systems, PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human-Machine Interfaces), and robotics in a manufacturing or production setting.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles, including troubleshooting techniques and diagnostic tools.
  • Proficiency in programming languages and robotic applications.
  • Familiarity with industrial communication protocols (e.g., Ethernet/IP, Modbus, Profibus) and networking concepts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work rotating shifts, weekends, and overtime as needed to support production schedules and emergency repairs.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and reliability in all aspects of job performance.

WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours a week - Monday to Friday - (Must be flexible to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and overtime to meet the company's needs).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience with Fabrication and Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding with stainless steel to ensure a food-safe surface.
  • Five years of recent work experience performing maintenance in a food production facility or like industry.
  • Experience in welding.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THE POSITION:
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence and provide input into procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and others as needed.
  • Ability to solve practical problems.
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Equipment maintenance, electrical knowledge, general plant maintenance.
  • Must be a self-starter and can work independently with little direct supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a team setting, with strong personal accountability and the ability to build excellent working relationships.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 or more pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 50 or more pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.
