THE ROLE
Under the direct supervision of the Plant Manager (PM), the Robotics Engineer directs manufacturing operations through a team of functional Group Managers that oversee and implement all production operations and shop activities at the various JELD-WEN plants and facilities in accordance with corporate Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s). This position performs/acts in the capacity of a Group Manager during an absence and/or void and may act as the liaison to the PM on behalf of their respective operational Group activities and responsibilities.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities
- Support daily production schedules through the timely troubleshooting and repair of faulty equipment.
- Troubleshoot and update robot programs based on component change and manufacturing needs.
- Provide strong project management skills to lead, plan, budget, and implement large capital projects.
- Mentor and train associates in robot set ups and troubleshooting.
- May perform other or specified duties as directed by the Plant Manager, Assistant Plant Manager, Production Manager, or other appropriate supervisory personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills up and down the organizational ladder to include rank and file, and plant management personnel.
- Fundamental understanding of JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement and overall corporate goals, objectives, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
- Knowledge of safety (OSHA, SDS), ANSI (RIA) standards.
- Knowledge of automation applications with successful development and deployment experiences.
- Knowledge of setting up base structures for robot installation according to company standards.
- Must be flexible and able to manage time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
- Must be able to ensure effective and efficient completion of projects by planning and implementing courses of action with other functions and key stakeholders.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other position applicable software applications.
- Travel is primarily local during the business day. May on occasion travel to appropriate seminars and training.
Education and Experience
- Five+ years of relevant work experience in Power Controls, Automation, and/or Robotics Engineering.
- University degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering or Computer Science.
- Experience in setting up robots and configuring robot I/O’s, the off-line robotic simulation process in conjunction with PLC I/O’s and HMI, exchanging tags and data between robots and PLC’s through commonly used industrial protocols such as Ethernet IP, EtherCAT, Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, etc.
- Experience with interfacing safety devices like E-Stops, light curtains and area scanners with robot programming.
- Knowledge of raw materials and experience in production and manufacturing processes and techniques, preferably in the door and window industry.
- Sound knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques including, but not limited to, SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and Continuous Improvement (CI) methodologies and activities
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $74,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
