Job description

Job Purpose:

Our client, a leading aerospace company, is seeking an experienced AutoCAD/SolidWorks Designer to join their team in Wichita, Kansas. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and developing complex aviation components and systems using SolidWorks or CAD software. This role requires collaborating with engineering teams to create detailed models, layouts, and drawings that meet aviation industry standards and regulations.


Duties & Responsibilities:

Design and Development:

  • Utilize SolidWorks or CAD software to create detailed 3D models, layouts, and drawings of aviation components, systems, and structures.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to develop innovative and efficient designs that meet project requirements and adhere to aviation industry standards and regulations.
  • Conduct design reviews and make necessary modifications to ensure compliance with specifications and safety standards.

Analysis and Simulation:
  • Perform analysis and simulation tasks using SolidWorks Simulation or similar tools to evaluate the performance and structural integrity of aviation designs.
  • Identify and address potential issues related to stress, fatigue, and aerodynamics to optimize design performance and reliability.

Documentation and Compliance:

  • Prepare comprehensive documentation, including technical drawings, specifications, and reports, to support the design and development process.
  • Ensure compliance with aviation regulations, standards, and certification requirements throughout the design and development lifecycle.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to ensure alignment of design objectives and project timelines.
  • Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners to convey design concepts, requirements, and progress updates.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay updated on emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in aviation design and CAD software.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of design methodologies and workflows.

Qualifications:


Education and Experience :
  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in aviation design using SolidWorks, CATIA, or other CAD software.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in SolidWorks or CAD software, with a strong understanding of parametric modeling, assemblies, and drafting.
  • Familiarity with aviation design principles, including aerodynamics, structural analysis, and materials selection.
  • Experience with simulation and analysis tools such as SolidWorks Simulation, ANSYS, or similar software.

Communication and Collaboration:

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts effectively to diverse audiences.
  • Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Problem-Solving and Analytical Abilities:

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to identify and resolve design challenges effectively.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to analyze data, evaluate design alternatives, and make informed decisions.

Adaptability and Compliance:

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and project requirements.
  • Familiarity with aviation regulations, standards, and certification processes, with a commitment to ensuring compliance in all design activities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the aerospace or aviation industry, with knowledge of FAA regulations and certification processes.
  • Certification in SolidWorks or other relevant CAD software.
  • Experience with design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA) principles.
