Signature Automation is a professional engineering services firm with offices in Dallas and San Antonio, Texas. We are a rapidly expanding, dynamic company specializing in various aspects of controls (I&C) design, electrical design, industrial control system programming, instrumentation, and IT consulting services. We are currently seeking an experienced AutoCAD Drafter to join our team in our Dallas office.
The AutoCAD Drafter will be responsible for preparing electrical and instrumentation-related drawings, as well as general arrangement drawings related to customer quotations and submittals. These drawings will typically include area classification plans, control system architectures, detail drawings, duct bank site plans, electrical schematics, general grounding details, instrument installation detail sheets, interconnect diagrams, lighting & receptacle plans, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and piping & instrumentation drawings (P&ID).
Essential Functions- Collaborate with the Engineering team to create the required electrical and instrumentation-related drawings.
- Communicate with the Engineering team about any potential issues with a design based on drawing layout and work towards resolution.
- Learn, understand, and implement the firm's drawing standards, numbering systems, and nomenclature.
- Maintain project drawing files, and associated records and documentation in an orderly condition.
- Perform other system configurations/calculations in accordance with project specifications and other project documentation as directed by project engineering.
- Receive project assignments from project engineering and design staff.
- Utilize the existing CAD library of parts and/or create the necessary parts library needed for the creation of the required drawings.
- Minimum of 5 years of Electrical experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of related Electrical AutoCAD experience.
- Developed base XREF files, and plan sets.
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments in parallel, shifting priorities as needed.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with 3D drafting design is preferred.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office software: MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Visio is a plus.
- Knowledge of Revit electrical systems design is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with design documents: piping & instrumentation drawings (P&ID), area classification, grounding, conduit, duct bank, lighting & receptacle plans, control system architectures, one-line diagrams, electrical schematics, data sheets, panel schedules, grounding & instrument installation details, I/O wiring diagrams, interconnect diagrams and loop drawings.
- Conduct field investigations and inspections as needed.
- Experience in water/wastewater is preferred.
- Perform other duties as needed.
