American National is seeking an experienced claims professional to join our APD (auto property damage) team. As a Claims Specialist you will serve the claims operation in a variety of capacities. You can expect to perform technical audits and quality assurance to ensure that our claims handling process is following a consistent process. You will also perform estimate reviews and/or do full inspections.
What Will You Do?
Evaluate vehicle damage(s) using either physical inspection or photos to produce estimates and supplements as needed for personal and commercial autos, trucks, boats, recreational vehicles, and other specialty line vehicles
Collaborate with independent adjusters and body shops
Maintain continuing education (CE.) courses for required licensing
Perform technical audits and quality assurance to maintain claims guidelines, ensuring consistent processes and providing the utmost level of service to both internal departments and external appraisal sources
Negotiate changes to estimates/supplements and complete total loss evaluations, as needed
Resolve disputed damages, verify estimate accuracy- including supplements from all methods of inspection
Identify coverage issues and/or liability, when applicable, addressing with the claims adjuster
Issue payment on initial and supplemental photo estimates completed by you
Required Skills
Currently hold appropriate license(s) or obtain following date of hire (American National will incur fees associated / No out of pocket expenses)
2+ years' work experience in one or a combination of the following areas: Collision estimating/Collision Center and/or Auto insurance claims
Ability and preparedness to travel anywhere in the United States during catastrophe events as needed
Physically capable to perform visual field and photo damage evaluations while (Bending, stooping, lifting) when applicable
Preferred Skills
Technical trade schooling and/or Two year degree preferred
Proficiency in CCC-1 estimating platform or alike systems
Experience in or a strong understanding of collision repair procedures
Familiarity with writing collision estimates
Industry designations/certifications (I-CAR., ASE., AINS., SCLA.)
Ability to effectively manage catastrophe damages with technical proficiency
An operative and organized multi-tasker, as you will be tasked with documenting your files, managing your day-to-day work schedule, and goals
High attention to detail and thorough follow-up
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong negotiation skills
Salary for this position can range from $53,098.50 for candidates who are minimally qualified through $66,358.50 for more highly qualified candidates. Candidates outside of the range are encouraged to apply, and will be considered based on experience, skill and education.
