Authorization/Billing Specialist

Qualifications:

Preferred: Home Health experience, insurance authorization experience, billing, and/or HomeCare Homebase experience

*High school graduate or its equivalent

*Must be detail oriented and have a high degree of quality focus

*Must be able to multi task and support numerous referral priorities at one time

*Knowledge of medical terminology or previous experience in health-related field

*Ability to work in fast paced environment

*Computer knowledge to include ability to learn agency software

*Demonstrate organizational skills, professional manner and problem-solving skills by taking initiative and also possess the ability to deal effectively with a variety of demands and people

*Ability to follow direction and instruction

Responsibilities:

*Ensures accurate entry in data base

*Processing benefit verification and authorization responsibilities of all new referrals within expected speed and quality

*Contacting patients to explain beneftis

*Follows up to maintain required re-certification coverage and authorization

*Assist billing department with claim issues due to insurance authorization denials

*Maintiain progress/tracking reports on outstanding authorization to ensure timely request, receipt and processing of authorization

*Collect, review, discuss, and document demographic, insurance and financial information with patients and payers.

*Assists with patient past due collection efforts

*May assist with billing, payroll and filing procedures

*Other duties assigned by supervisor

Pay: $13.50 - $18.50 per hour
