Our firm is seeking an Audit Paraprofessional to join our Troy, MI office. The Audit Paraprofessional will have the opportunity to work with Shareholders, Managers and Associates serving a diverse client base of industries such as manufacturing, construction, dealerships, governmental and non-profit, wholesale and distribution, retail, restaurant and more.
Responsibilities:

• Assists in the preparation of audit, review, and compilation work papers and financial statements.
• Assists with preparation engagements and account reconciliations.
• Assists in the preparation of employee benefit plan audits by completing various participant testing procedures.
• Assists with compliance testing in Single Audits and other compliance type engagements.
• Keeps supervisor informed throughout the audit regarding items of concern, significance, question or delay.
• Investigates discrepancies, conducts research, documents, prepares and presents findings. May provide technical advice and recommendations to management and clients with assistance of others on the engagement team but is careful not to express opinions on the information evaluated. This may include reporting of fraud or legal violations.
• Abides by the rules, regulations, guiding principles, quality control standards and code of professional conduct of the AICPA, GASB, FASB, GAO and of Doeren Mayhew. Stays informed of current technical developments and pending matters important to our profession and clients.
• Develops insight into the scope and application of our accounting, auditing and tax services. Develops skill in recognizing opportunities for providing additional services to clients and informs the senior or manager on the engagement promptly so action can be taken. Demonstrates abilities in providing our clients with quality service.
• Obtains exposure to the types of financial statement engagements offered by the firm. Assumes responsibility for unaudited financial statement engagements or segments of audits under the supervision of more experienced staff.

Qualifications:

• Associates degree in business or accounting

• Prior experience in public accounting preferred
• Payroll, employee benefit plan and/or bookkeeping experience is desired
• Ability to demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Ability to adapt quickly to new technology platforms
