Rockhurst University is seeking applications for a full-time Audio Video Systems Engineer. The Information Technology organization provides access, development, and support services to students, faculty, and staff, as well as other external constituents of Rockhurst University so they can conduct their work in a reliable, secure, effective, and efficient information technology environment in pursuit of Rockhurst's Strategic Initiatives.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Audio Video Systems Engineer is responsible for designing classroom and general campus audio video technology; installing and building out these systems; supporting, troubleshooting, and repairing these systems and setting up the AV and running the equipment for special campus events.
This position will provide project management over larger scale AV projects where outside third-party vendors may need to assist. This role will also be responsible for initiating, reviewing, and procuring technical and financial quotes for equipment. Breaking out labor and other costs to ensure budgetary oversight.
This position will assist the Rockhurst Help Desk with training for classroom technology and troubleshooting other AV issues when required. This position will also manage all AV tickets that are assigned to the Rockhurst Help Desk.
The Audio Video Systems Engineer must be familiar with Extron configurations, utilizing GUI designer, Extron PCS, Extron Global Configurator Plus or Pro. This position will be required to keep current with new AV technology trends in a university setting. The Audio Video Systems Engineer must retain a good working knowledge of video and audio protocols such as HDCP, Audio Routing, DSP systems, DANTE audio interfaces, lighting controls, and many others.
The Audio Video Systems Engineer will be required to work with different departments across campus for projects or events and keeping the end user updated with the latest information possible. Some knowledge of structured cabling and AV network design. Knowledge of audio interference possibilities (EMI/RFI issues, etc.).
Additional responsibilities include:
Understand Rockhurst's AV technical needs and define system specifications and best practices.
Plan and design the structure of AV technology solutions.
Communicate system and cost requirements to leadership and/or departments looking to do AV updates.
Evaluate and select appropriate software or hardware and suggest integration methods.
Assist with solving technical network issues.
Ensure the implementation of agreed architecture and infrastructure with vendors and internal resources.
Address technical concerns, ideas, and suggestions across a wide array of technologies.

Proven experience working with Audio and Video equipment
Detailed knowledge of AV systems
Some basic knowledge of networking and computer hardware systems including laptops, desktops, access points- and other network technologies
