JOB SUMMARY
The Audiologist works as an active team member in the programs and services for Deaf/Hard of Hearing students. Deaf/Hard of Hearing students in organized Deaf/Hard of Hearing programs or mainstreamed into regular classes may receive audiometric evaluations, appropriate central auditory testing, recommendations regarding appropriate hearing aides or FM auditory or amplified classroom units.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ohio Department of Education license in Audiology.
Experience in pediatric audiology preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of the Ohio Operating Standards for the Education of Children with Disabilities
Knowledge of district, state and federal rules and regulations regarding hearing impaired programming
Knowledge of audiometric, central processing testing, equipment calibration and selection
Knowledge of ODH and ASHA standards for audiometric assessment and mass screening
Knowledge of current trends in audiology for children and youth
Knowledge of current hearing aids
Knowledge of community agencies that can support students with disabilities
Ability to use technology as both a productivity tool and as a method of communication; proficient in computer applications including Microsoft Office
Ability to train teaching and support staff in basic equipment usage and checks and basic audiometrics and immittance screening techniques
Ability to trouble-shoot assistive equipment, evaluate classroom acoustic information and make or suggest modifications
Ability to maintain accurate student records
Ability to analyze and interpret assessment data
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with students, co-workers, administrators, and public
Ability to work with teachers and students to demonstrate ways of supporting students in the regular classroom
Skill in equipment calibration, audiometric testing, immittance testing, Real-Ear measurements, and taking sound-level readings for classrooms
Skill in effective group and individual counseling, family intervention, crisis intervention, development of home/school collaboration
Ability to work with team to analyze, synthesize, and evaluate program progress and implement changes
