Academic & Student Affairs Technology Services (DASA Tech) provides technology leadership and support to the Division of Academic and Student Affairs, and serves as the central technology unit for the entire Division. DASA Tech is responsible for technology planning, budgeting, hardware, software and service procurement, and overall technology service and support.
This position provides configuration and deployment support for computer labs, and digital signage equipment across the Division of Academic and Student Affairs (DASA). Additionally, this position will provide the DASA A/V Analyst operational support for the creation, maintenance, and implementation of remote device management and configuration in classroom and conference spaces.
The employee in this position provides support of hardware, desktop applications including productivity software suites, operating systems, and networking in the computer lab, shared spaces, and digital signage locations. This position requires a broad understanding of a variety of end-user, digital signage, and desktop/laptop computing technologies to effectively support deployed equipment. This involves installation, configuration, and remote management of software and operating systems in supported spaces.
This work requires particularly strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively interact with a broad range of faculty, staff, vendors, and the ability to use a variety of technical resources for providing this support. Employees at this level may provide routine and non-routine support for a wide range of collaborative computing technologies. This position is responsible for oversight of projects like life-cycle replacements, new lab, existing in-place configuration changes, and software upgrades.
Essential Job Duties
- Deployment, maintenance and configuration for computer labs and digital signage equipment.
- Device management through JAMF Pro and Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (formerly known as the Software Center Configuration Manager).
- Software package management for Windows and macOS devices.
- Mobile device management for iOS, ipadOS, Android, and ChromeOS devices.
- Deployment, hardening, and setting purchasing standards for copiers and printers.
- Inventory compliance support to provide audit support for BIOS, OS, and software patch management standards.
Other Responsibilities
- Provide backup support for A/V, conferencing, multimedia hardware and applications, wired and wireless networking in division-operated classroom spaces.
- Provide backup support for Managing & supporting IT needs for seminars, live streams, and studio recording.
- Communicate and engage daily with users, management, and other stakeholders. Actively managing incident management tickets, responding quickly to customer requests, and managing tasks to completion.
- Documentation of position-specific duties and procedures as directed by supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment;
- or Bachelor’s degree (Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline preferred) and two years of experience in the information technology field related to the area of assignment;
- or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
- Experience working with JAMF for macOs/iOS/iPadOS/tvOS and/or Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager.
- Basic troubleshooting skills needed to provide local support of lab and digital signage equipment
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a wide variety of clients and coworkers.
- Ability to self-direct their own priorities and meet project deadlines.
- Proven ability to quickly learn and retain technical skills.
- Desktop support experience, including imaging computers, troubleshooting software and operating system installations.
- Experience troubleshooting TCP/IP networking issues.
- Prior experience in end-user training and documentation preparation.
- Experience with support request tracking system like ServiceNow.
- Experience creating Windows and macOS application packages for deployment via a mobile device management solution like JAMF Pro or Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
- Experience working in Higher education with an emphasis in a research environment.
- Demonstrated vendor engagement experience.
- Interest in using/learning scripting languages including Powershell, Python, zShell, and Go.
