Audience Assistant
Deseret.com seeks a full-time digital journalist with the skills to internalize its brand, understand its audience and optimize content for maximum reach.
This job will challenge you to:
- Make decisions for the Deseret.com homepage, mobile app and social media channels based on brand strategy and audience considerations
- Critically evaluate headlines, image selection and story placement
- Use data and analytics and how they inform decision making
- Quickly identify news trends on the web and social media
- Communicate the needs of the site and audience to editors and reporters
- Ensure quality control of SEO elements and identify opportunities for reach
- Enhance content with graphics, videos, photos, links and other elements
- Assist in compiling effective newsletters
- Interact with audiences through our comment moderation system

- Understand the needs of distinct audiences: homepage, mobile, search, social, newsletter, etc.
- Are able to write compelling web headlines, social media posts and app notifications
- Are immersed in trending and breaking news
- Can think clearly and act decisively in a bustling newsroom environment
- Are a good communicator who is comfortable giving and receiving feedback
- Have a basic understanding of SEO best practices
- Are a competent copy editor
