Job Description
The Athletic Trainer - Events Coordinator is responsible for organizing, managing and overseeing all events for the Andrews Institute and fostering the prevention and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. The position will perform both outreach and periodic clinical duties for sports medicine program. The position provides athletic health care services to assigned schools and sites in accordance with all sports medicine agreements. The Athletic Trainer - Events Coordinator is responsible for tracking and reporting athletic injuries at special events and assigned schools, and assisting with PPE, CBT, and other duties as assigned by supervisor. In addition to supporting the general operations of the Sports Medicine Outreach program at the Andrews Institute, the position is responsible for organizing, managing, working, and overseeing all special events including staff, set-up/breakdown, EAP development, injury management, timekeeping, upkeep/maintenance of SMO Mobile Center/truck/equipment for the Andrews Institute SMO Department. The service area for event organization and coverage will consist of both a local and regional presence. The position delivers the message and services of the Andrews Institute to the community through outreach marketing programs and events in order to drive business to designated hospital service lines. The position develops a network of relationships within the school systems, recreation leagues and any physically active organization to maximize opportunities for new patients within the BHC system. The role is also responsible for oversight of students from area high school and college ATC programs. The Athletic Trainer - Events Coordinator acts as a marketing representative on behalf of the Andrews Institute and all of Baptist Health Care.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates the link of hospital service lines, physicians, programs and marketing efforts into a concise outreach program with additional responsibilities of operational integration between the department and special events within the community.
- Works with the Sports Medicine Outreach Business Manager to effectively build goals, generate annual business plans and effectively integrate outreach operations with the operations of the orthopaedic service line and track the Return on Investment from each event.
- Manages and coordinates schedule for the Mobile Sports Medicine Outreach Center.
- Meets with physicians/physicians' staff and referral sources to promote rehab services by facilitating and providing access management to community members and event athletes.
- Coordinates participation of events involving the promotion of sports medicine, orthopaedic, and BHC services through lectures, sponsorships, and community relations. Acts as an ambassador for AI and BHC within local and regional communities.
- Performs both outreach and periodic clinical duties for sports medicine program. Provides athletic training services including preparing athletes for practice or competition, including taping, bandaging and bracing. Evaluates injuries to determine their management and possible referral. Tracks and reports athletic injuries at special events and assigned schools.
- Maintains current knowledge/certification/licensure. Pursues professional growth and development.
- Coordinates with event coordinators and directors regarding sports medicine policies and program.
- Tracks and reports athletic injuries by keeping logbook and documentation onsite.
- Maintains work area and equipment in condition required by department standards.
- Obtains equipment needed for patient care delivery, marketing, and mobile center setup.
- Explores opportunities for partnerships within the community.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree Athletic Training, Other related field Required.
- 2 years Clinical ATC experience Required.
- Athletic Trainer Licensed State of Florida, State of Alabama Upon Hire Required.
- Certified Athletic Trainer (AT_BOC) Upon Hire Required.
- BLS for Healthcare Providers (BLS) American Heart Association Upon Hire Required.
- Knowledge and skill for outreach events.
- Knowledge of operation of outpatient rehab clinic.
- Knowledge of operation of physician office.
- Display strong communication skills.
- Familiar with medical terminology in reference to rehab.
- Knowledge and responsible for pulling and setting up a 25ft Mobile Athletic Training trailer.
