Job Details The City of Plano Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a temporary Athletic Coordinator who is motivated, organized and detail oriented individual with excellent communication skills.

This role will work closely with the Athletic Supervisor in planning, scheduling and coordinating support staff for 60 events held annually in the City of Plano at our 15 athletic sites. This role will assist in the operations of tournaments and events on the 2024 calendar which will include but not limited to: the creation of estimates and invoices, determining inventory of available athletic field resources for facilitating events and coordinate the delivery of all required paperwork from tournament directors in a timely fashion. In addition, this role will, assist in the development and maintain the annual calendar of athletic events.

Provide on site support for athletic events throughout the calendar year. Onsite, outdoor weekend work is a requirement of this position including night and weekend work. Schedules can be created as flexible based on tournament and event needs throughout the year.

Hybrid schedule of in office and on site hours. Typically, three days a week in the office from 8:00am-5:00pm and two various opening or closing shifts on Saturday and Sunday depending on tournament needs. Target hourly rate for this position is $25.00 per hour, dpending on qualifications.

Examples of ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Management reserves the rights to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job. Coordinates, markets, and supervises usage of special use athletic facilities including, but not limited to, the Championship Youth Ball Park, disc golf courses, skate parks, etc. Coordinates and supervises athletic field use for leagues, practices, tournaments, special events and programs by local youth, adult sports association and the general public which will require the incumbent to work a flexible schedule of evening and weekend hours.

Monitors general public, youth and adult associations' compliance with athletic regulations and ordinances. Coordinates tasks by a work force of evening/weekend employees and/or independent contractors providing service to citizens and athletic-oriented associations including, but not limited to, the coordination of athletic field lighting, opening and closing of controlled-access athletic fields and sites, assistance in the coordination of maintenance needs at athletic areas and facilities and site-based liaisons to public inquiries or complaints. Assists in the preparation of general fund budgets for athletics and monitors budget expenditures and revenue collections.

Assists in identifying present and future needs, goals and objectives for efficient operation of athletic facilities and programs. Regular and consistent attendance for the assigned work schedule is essential. Marginal Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.

Typical Decisions: The incumbent will determine scheduled usage of athletic fields and facilities on a recurring basis following departmental guidelines that will determine the work schedules of evening/weekend employees and independent contractors. The incumbent will assist in determining the playing ability of athletic fields. Minimum Qualifications: Knowledge of: Position requires a working knowledge of rules and regulations relating to sports and athletic activities and events; methods of play; facility operations; equipment and basic maintenance requirements for successfully conducting varied athletic activities.

Skill in: Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing; communicating clearly; operating a personal computer. Education: Bachelor's degree in Recreation, Sports Management or Athletic Administration. Experience: Two (2) years of experience involving the operational aspects of recreational sports or athletic programs demonstrating scheduling and organizational proficiencies.

Any work related experience resulting in acceptable proficiency levels in the above Minimum Qualifications is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements Licenses and Certifications: None. Conditions of Employment: Must pass a drug test, criminal history background check, periodic CJIS background check (for positions requiring access into Police buildings) and social security number verification check. Physical Demands and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in and around City athletic fields and facilities; strength, stamina, and mobility to perform light to medium physical work; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone or radio.

The job involves fieldwork requiring frequent walking in operational areas to identify problems or hazards. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate above-mentioned equipment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, and reach when completing maintenance and preparing athletic fields.

Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 20 pounds, or heavier weights with the use of proper equipment. Employees work in and around City athletic fields and facilities and are exposed to loud noise levels and cold and hot temperatures.
