GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is seeking a Skilled Trades Specialist to travel statewide on a weekly basis, completing construction and maintenance activities at Wyoming Game and Fish facilities. Will provide assistance to the Senior Skilled Trades Specialist.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The listed functions are illustrative per area only and are not intended to describe every function, which may be performed.
  • Complete scheduled, deferred, and routine maintenance, as well as requested office and building modifications and construction projects. Projects include roofs, plumbing, heating, siding, windows, painting, staining, lighting, sprinkler systems, doors, flooring, insulation, drywall, gutters, electrical, concrete, etc.
  • Perform construction and maintenance on Wyoming Game and Fish facilities, including regional offices, game warden stations, fish hatcheries, rearing stations, Whiskey Mountain Conservation Camp, Bighorn Sheep Center, and others.
  • Oversees services provided by independent contractors
  • Assist in maintaining accurate records, job reports, and photo logs of progress on projects and each individual facility.
  • Communicate, coordinate, and collaborate with the supervisor on a regular basis to determine work progress and flow.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining an inventory of project materials.

Qualifications
PREFERENCES/**AGENCY REQUIREMENTS:
Preference will be given to those applicants who have work experience in construction trades and facility maintenance.
**Must have a valid driver's license.
KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge of building and construction trades work.
  • Skill in operating and maintaining equipment associated with construction, building trades, and ground maintenance.
  • Knowledge of placing and finishing concrete.
  • Knowledge of plumbing and electrical work.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations.
  • Knowledge of lawn sprinkler systems.
  • Knowledge of basic math.
  • Skill in record keeping of contractor services and performance.
  • Skill in working on ladders; skill in basic computer use, e-mail, and word processing.
  • Skill in the use of hand tools, including carpentry

Necessary Special Requirements
PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Statewide travel is required on a weekly basis, often for extended periods.
  • Must be in good physical condition, with the ability to work in all weather conditions.
  • Must be willing to work outside of regular business hours including early mornings and late evenings.
  • Must be able to climb ladders and stairs on a daily basis.
  • Ability to lift and carry objects of approximately 100 pounds with regular bending, stooping, and working at tall heights.
  • Works approximately 40 hours per week which may include work on some weekends.
