We're looking for people who care and want to make a change. This position requires an ability and willingness to travel, a high level of confidentiality and integrity and excellent interpersonal skills. As a Associate Vice President of Philanthropy at Elim, you'll be required to:

  • Identify, evaluate, cultivate and solicit major gift donors for restricted, annual, special project funding and endowment gifts for Elim.
  • Work with (solicit, stewardship, etc.) major donors and prospects/upgrade candidates to realize their full philanthropic potential to Elim.
  • Develop and execute cultivation plans for major gift prospects. This includes creating opportunities to meet with key individuals and foundations.
  • Prepare and present proposals annually and assist in the preparation of stewardship reports for all major gift donors within his or her portfolio.
  • Work with VP of Strategic Partnerships to identify and qualify new/discovery major gift prospects annually.
  • Achieve annual revenue goals for areas of responsibilities.
  • Act as secondary account manager on several of the VP's primary accounts and assist with donor engagement and follow up.
  • Collaborate with the VP, advancement, marketing and communication team to design and implement solicitation plans for major gift prospects as well as set and achieve goals for expectancies created and realized
  • Engage Elim's President, VP's, Directors and Department heads, Board members and other staff in the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and actively support their involvement.
  • Maintain accurate, up to date tracking of all major gift prospects and donors and appropriate documentation of al gifts.
  • Recruit, train and manage fundraising volunteers as needed.
  • Manage special projects as assigned by the VP of Strategic Partnerships and or President
  • Attend and assist with development related events throughout the year including evenings and weekends.
  • Responsible for raising $1 million dollars through private contributions, annual and multi-year commitments and gift planning along with donations of appreciated assets.
  • Implement account management strategy to ensure donors receive the appropriate amount of attention annually.
  • Develop long term relationships through personal interactions with donors on assigned account list and strive to connect donor interests to Elim's mission and ministry.
  • Manage an effective pipeline of donor prospects, both within and outside the current active donor file.
  • Network through current donors to locate new giving prospects who can make major gifts.
  • Success securing individual gifts of $10K+
  • Effectively model Christ both in individual and corporate life.
  • Other duties as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; kneel; crouch or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Hours:Monday - Friday 40 hours/week, 52 weeks/year
Wages & Benefits:
  • Salary commensurate with experience

Education, Experience, Skills and Training:
  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required.
  • Minimum of five years increasingly responsible development/fundraising/sales experience
  • Experience in a Christian organization preferred
  • Proven track record with personal solicitations and relationship management.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the advancement colleagues to create a results driven, team-oriented environment.
  • Excellent writing, communication and computer skills.
  • Project management skills
  • Works in the office and expected to travel to visit prospects and donors.
