Job Opportunity:
BHSI has an exciting entry-level opportunity in our Executive and Professional Liability division for an Underwriting Associate to join the Financial Institutions team based in our Chicago office.
The cohort program will begin in June 2024.
We are seeking a teammate looking to build a career in underwriting financial line products (Directors and Officers Liability, Errors and Omissions, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Fidelity Bonds) for Financial Institutions. We are seeking teammates who want to challenge themselves through diverse learning and growth opportunities, who value a collaborative culture, and who embrace that profitable underwriting is paramount.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Helping to build a book of business that is consistent with the team’s strategic focus.
- Develop and cultivate broker and customer relationships.
- Underwrite efficiently without sacrificing discipline, diligence, or portfolio strength.
- Work in a fast-paced environment, with a high level of service orientation, agility, and decisiveness.
- Be a positive reflection on the company by demonstrating integrity and leadership in the marketplace.
- Effectively communicate BHSI’s value proposition to brokers and customers.
- Work closely with our in-house claims team to help create a positive and transparent experience for our customers.
- Collaborate with teammates across all product lines.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- 0-2 years of professional experience.
- Degree or equivalent (focus on Finance, Business, Economics, Risk Management preferred).
- Demonstrated understanding of financial analysis and financial markets.
- Desire to learn and synthesize an understanding of policy forms and coverage types including Directors and Officers Liability, Errors and Omissions, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, and Fidelity.
- Ability and willingness to develop and nurture a network of broker and customer relationships.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and manage time efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication negotiation and customer service skills.
- Experience with MS Office applications.
- All candidates must have permanent work authorization in the United States.
