Job Description:Associate Technical Product Manager is responsible for assisting in the management of the product development process, from concept phase through launch. Helps to maintain project schedules. Acts as a coordinator between other internal departments, third-party vendors, outside sales force, and customers. Must become a product expert and provide technical assistance.

Reports to: Director, Product Development

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • As part of the product team, you will bring your technical skills to the table to support the engineering and design teams to bring high quality designs to the market.
  • Become a subject matter expert for Feeney products.
  • In this role, you will support and execute a technical design process and documentation that ensures product incorporates "best practices" in design, construction, and manufacturing thereby guaranteeing product reliability, quality, and customer loyalty.
  • Analyze the needs of our customers, effectively translating these needs to our engineering team and Product Director, working together to help develop solutions.
  • You will be responsible for the execution of technical design specifications using Autodesk Inventor (3D modeling), procedures, and practices for all new product development within the overall business targets of cost, schedule, performance, and aesthetics.
  • Create custom fabricated component drawings for manufacturing shop based upon developed drafting standards.
  • Provide in-house engineering solutions in collaboration with outside engineering firms.
  • Provide customer service and sales department with technical assistance to help process quotes and orders.
  • Assist customer base in understanding of products and installation specifications.
  • Communicate effectively with industry professionals (i.e.: architects, engineers, contractors) with knowledge of commonly used construction methods and nomenclature.
  • Work with purchasing department to order special items based on engineering or project specifications.
  • Review product warranty claims and escalate/provide recommendations as needed.
  • Attending weekly product development meetings.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to produce technical drawings proficiently.
  • Experience in both Architectural and Mechanical drafting, with understanding of scaling and industry standard annotations.
  • Basic understanding of Building Codes relative to the company’s product line.
  • Previous construction estimating experience a plus due to the technical nature of the business.
  • Excellent knowledge of drafting standards and ability to contribute to design reviews and improve job efficiencies.
  • Ability to quickly dissect large commercial architectural drawing sets to gather relevant information, including knowledge of architectural specification standards.
  • Comfort with Windows-based programs
  • CAD drafting experience, using AutoCAD 2007 or higher, and practice with Model space/Paper space layouts.
  • 3D modeling experience, Autodesk Inventor experience preferred.
