Warner Bros. Games Boston is a Warner Bros. Games development studio focused on creating free-to-play games for mobile platforms. The studio is utilizing its extensive expertise in creating persistent online worlds that foster powerful social gaming communities to develop its hit mobile game, Game of Thrones: Conquest.

WB Games Boston is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join the team! In this position, you will have a hands-on role maintaining and implementing key game systems and features for an unannounced upcoming title.

This role is an opportunity to get your foot in the door to the exciting and rewarding Games Industry. The collaborative team at WB Games Boston is committed to supporting our engineers with excellent onboarding and mentorship. This is a genuinely entry-level opportunity, and all applications will be treated equally. Prior professional experience is not required.

What We Do

Based on the award-winning HBO series, Game of Thrones: Conquest™ is a free-to-play strategy game that puts players at the head of their own powerful House, with the ultimate goal of claiming the Iron Throne. Build your great house, raise your army, conquer iconic Seats of Power, and rule the Seven Kingdoms.

What Part You'll Play

• Develop, maintain, and improve server systems to support our mobile game client
• Assist with general game development, including, but not limited to: gameplay features, optimization, UI, and bug fixing
• Collaborate with engineers, feature owners, and people across many disciplines like design and art to determine the requirements for new game systems and deliver them in a complete and timely fashion
• Contribute to best practices on software development, game design, features, and tools.
• Participate in code reviews and game reviews, offering constructive feedback that will support a best-in-class title and codebase

What You Bring

• Comfort with basic software development including coding, knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and complexity analysis
• Experience programming in Golang or another object-oriented language
• The ability to work in a collaborative environment and effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical team members
• A growth mindset, an attention to detail, and a willingness to learn and take feedback

Bonuses

• Experience with distributed and cloud based architectures - preferably AWS
• Experience building asynchronous or synchronous multiplayer games
• Experience using or implementing RESTful and gRPC services
• Experience working with microservices
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL
• Experience with Git
• Experience playing 4X strategy mobile games
• Familiarity with the Game of Thrones television series and/or series of books
